I tried but way too late. You can hear the engine rev right before it hits the stack platform. I know you're supposed to go full throttle on touchdown, but I never do.

you should have seen mine. I tried to land on a carrier... with real landing on, no pogo sticks. Arresting hook caught when i noticed 2 things. 1. i forgot to put my gear down 2. there were aircraft on this one. Managed to skid between 2 avangers, but i had no wings, no tail, a dead gunner... yeah, not good.

It is. I even checked to make sure I had not somehow changed it by accident. I was surprised that the gear did not collapse. It's happened (landing gear collapse on hard landing) countless times in 109s (my 'go to' plane.) So i tried a really hard landing on an airstrip in a Hellcat, and it did the same thing; just bounced way up then crashed on return to ground. I guess Oleg added extra strength to the Navy carrier plane's gear like in real world. A bit too much. lol

And the high 'bounce' was caused by hitting the sloped lip of the Lexington class.

That is proberly the funnyest Il-2 video i have ever seen in my life,
i have doing carrier crash landing for ages, but this is the best and most wierd crash landing,
I have ever seen. Good work I would like more of the stuff on here, :!:

Can such landing gear strenght be caused by using Carrier Takeoff mod ?
Are you using this mod and is it the same bounce without it ?
It never happened to me :lol: will have to try with Lexington class ship :lol:

I don't know what the deal is, HG. I have no carrier or catapult mods. It's either a bug with regard to damage on that lip, or a conflict with a mod. Or maybe it's just me. I tried several Navy planes and they all did the same. So I tried a 109. I know the gear can't take that impact. But it did. Like the other ...this is full realism - (minus external views/padlocks/map icons.)
