A Mystery : My Pracice Mission Now Starts in the Air!!

I have a "practice" mission - to practice take-off's and landings - very useful!

However, all of a sudden this mission starts in the air - not on the runway!! I've done nothing to the mission files - see below - some advice would be appreciated.

hi mungee
no answer for you, mate, just wondering if we don't have a similar issue? i have a saved mission using the Mistel with the Bf-109_F4 (i think?) . This mission also used to start on the ground with the player in the 109 attached to the Mistel. this same mission (unchanged) now starts with the 109 in midair over the runway, no longer attached to the Mistel. whatever I try, i cannot seem to attach the 109 to the Mistel at all??? Afaik, its the standard Mistel mission, just using the 109 instead of the FW190.....yes, the Seelow bridge mission...??
hoping someone can help?
ps: the same mission using the Focke-Wulf works fine.

Hi
Did you have in difficulty settings set take off and landings?

I'm sure these guys would've thought of something simple as that (I hope)...

I've had a problem online with one of my maps I built.. but the problem was way worse than just a simple take-off and landing....

At first the map was fine, worked as it should.... until one day in the server, the air-start base disappeared (for gliders), the ships began to randomly fire about 20 minutes into the mission, and the searchlights no longer work....

Why may you say this happened? The server hasn't changed, and the map has not changed because I personally looked into it in the server.... funny thing is: when I host it, its all back...

There are a lot of online bugs with this game... most of which are pretty big and annoying (bomb delay bug; bombs not causing damage when player dead; living through some collisions; etc...)

But as an answer to your question, try disabling the Carrier Takeoff mod if you have it. I have heard that gives a lot of people spawn problems.

speaking for myself - i never fly with takeoff and landings unchecked, i don't see the point in a flight sim where you don't have to take off and land the plane yourself, and i'm pretty sure the same goes for mungee. neither of us are 'arcade-kiddies' Big Grin
AIRdom, I'll give it a try without the carrier takeoff mod, and see what happens.

..so i tested with the carrier takeoff mod disabled, and the results are different, but still wrong. The 109 now starts on the runway behind the Mistel. With the carrier mod enabled, the 109 starts in midair at the end of the runway, about 20m above the ground. you have about 1/2 a second to pull up, otherwise she ploughs straight into the ground. The Mistel sits by herself on the runway.
I have tried to set it up again in FMB, and the 109 should normally be able to 'select' the Mistel as a target, in order for it to be attached, but on the takeoff waypoint, the 109 refuses to accept the Mistel as a target, only allowing this to happen on the 1st of the waypoints.
As said before, the FW190 (stock) works perfectly, but the 109 version seems to have gone astray.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Sorry, mungee, i've kinda hijacked your initial post. hopefully there'll be a solution we can both use.... 8)

I just copied your file to Notepad and saved it into my Missions folder. After opening it in FMB, I just flied the mission directly from FMB without any troubles, with Bf109 on the ground at the start. So I suppose that the troubles are somewhere else, not in the mission itself. Good luck! Smile

Laziness is the mother of progress. My QMB missions can be found here:

Your flight starts on the ground on my system too.
Have you installed any new mods lately?

Ooooops! (a big one!).

I have just checked the 'difficulty' settings on the mission concerned and some how or other most of the settings have been changed. After adjusting these, I can now take off from the runway again.

Gee ... I feel silly! It must have been a recently-installed mod that changed these settings ... that's all I can think of!

Sorry to waste your time (those who responded).

Try placing your 109 mistel mod alphabetically before all the others.. I am positive it is conflicting with something...
