I have installed the unified installer over 4.09 then updated with 1.1.1 and now my game loads with a Russian interface then then a few seconds later it ctd's.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I may have done wrong, it will load no prob's if I disable the mod with the switch?

Manic, have you had a GOOD look at the FAQ sticky in this forum? (The link is inoperative)
It covers the Russian issue, but i'm worried about the CTD, still? :?

I've checked through the FAQ and I can see reference to Russian language fixes for the careers etc, but not for the interface. I've installed the UI a couple of times. The first two times I got the AAA splashscreen and the interface (the main menu, etc) was in English ... but it crashed on me. Then I reinstalled and got the everything in Russian - careers, ranks, splashscreen and interface / main menu. But it seems stable I have fixed the russian in the careers using the fixes described, but my main menu (and things like the engine power 'HUD' information) still appear in cyrillic. Any ideas on how to change this without a complete reinstall again?

Manic, just looking at what you've posted - the problem with that is the fact that you've installed UI1.1 over a 4.09 version of the game. That won't work, and is probably the cause of the crash. YOu need to install UI1.1 over a 4.08 version of the game, NOT 4.09. The (modified) 4.09 is part of the UI 1.1 install.

I was under the impression that it was ok to install the unified installer over a 4.09 install. I'll put the game back to 4.08 and give it another go. Got fingers crossed on both hands

the boss is right.

but if you come up to the LANGUAGE part of the issue again, and you are on the verge of throwing in the towel, here is a fix I did some time agao that MIGHT help you

NOTE: this fix is realy for fresh installs with the mod activators, not for ui. use at your own risk.

Solved the problem for me .... but due to a stupid error on my part I screwed up my missions 10 seconds later, so I'll reinstall again anyway.

But a useful file to have and it's taught me more about the file structure and percu.. perculie... oddities of the Il-2 file structures.

Finally sorted it out thanks for pointing this out, I can stop pulling out hair now . I'm positive I read somewhere that unified installer was able to be installed over the top of 4.09 but obviously this is incorrect or I have misread/misunderstood.
