Hello,
With all these mods my game takes more and more time to load (logical)...I added 2 gig of RAM but it doesn't really help...
I have an Intel Core 2 duo E5200 Mhz (2.5 ghz) with 4 mb of RAM (but only 3?25 available, don't know why) Windows XP SP3
nVidia 9800 GT 512mb
I launch the game in Second Core (faster), but still it is a heavy applications with all mods activated...
Is there a way to speed up the launch apart from cutting down on mods and scaling down video and audio settings?
Also I wish to launch a light version of the game to test a specific mod or a few of them and a few skin without having to wait a long time (so ine full version, and another "test" version).
Problem: for the "test/light " version of the game I wish to activate/deactivate mods I want to use automatically. Is there a simple way to di it?(JSGME utility not easy to use I think)
xp can only use 2gb of ram anyway. have u reformatted lately? a clean install is a sure way to ditch viruses and wasted resources. u could always kick up to vista and use more ram. is it online games that are slow loading? maybe your internet is slow.
I can answer the 3.25 gig thingy, which is from using a 32-bit OS
32 bit OS has a limit of 4 gb of ram, then the rest is allocated in page file and video memory
I have long loading times but it can be fixed by putting some of the mods into page file
there was a useful guide somewhere on the net, but i cant find it anymore
As odd as it sounds, I reduced the loading time dramatically, just by upgrading my processor.
I was using an AMD X2 4800+, 8GB RAM, and Vista 64-bit. I replaced the 4800+ with a Phenom II X4 940. The PH II 940 was just a 'drop in replacement". I did have to flash the BIOS before I put the 940 in, but other than that, I changed nothing. Loading time went from about 2 mins to about 30 seconds or so.
I have no clue as to why a processor change would make that much difference. One would think that the bottleneck would be the HDD, since it would be the slowest component. Especially since my IL2 folder is on an older 300GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10, which was pretty good in it's day, but is hardly a speed demon when compared to the HDD's available today.
It has little or nothing to do with your processor, memory or anything on your computer. It is problem with old engine and old il2.exe, to speed it up we would need new .exe file. That would be real hacking and cracking (the code) everything that you have seen so far is more or less cosmetic. As I have known so far, average time of loads with mods is 3-6 minutes (depends on how much mods do you use)
I just tested to see how long it took for my computer to load Il2:1946 with the Unified Installer. I did not bother to shut down background processes or turn off my anti-virus software. I do have a few additional effects and sound mods installed.
35 seconds.
My system: Gigabyte GA-EP-35C-DS3R with a E-6850 overclocked to 3.6 GHz, 2GB Corsair XMS 800 RAM, Zotac 8800GT-OC video. Windows XP Home 32 bit SP3.
I just wish it was possible to update the IL-2 1046 already launched game with new mods or maps without having to reboot it eveytime (very memory intensive)..But I guess that's not really possible (conf.ini and system files gets changed...)
And also when I forget to plug in my USB joystick I have to restart the game everytime...Yes I know, I know...I should NEVER unplug my USB joystick! :-) Because one shall be ready to play IL-2 1946 at any time! :-)
Sorry but the second post is incorrect, 32bit operating systems can only effectively use 3gb or ram while 64bit operating systems are more effective with 4gb of ram (random access memory) or more. Hence why you only see 3gb of ram, i presume then that your using 32bit xp or vista? If so then if you upgraded to 64bit then your full 4gb of ram would be utilized.
Hey all...
I've got performance issues as well. My game works fine but for some reason, when I play online my framerate goes right down.
I'm running
AMD Athlon x2 6000+
4gb of ddr2 800mhz
2X Nvidia 9500GT (1024) in sli mode.
Audigy 2 zs Soundcard
Western digital black HDD (32mb cache)
My hard drive is defragged at least once a week, and windows has been installed now for around 3-4 months.
One additional point. I had to alter my conf.ini file so I could run the game in 1920x1200 mode for my big fat 24" monitor! ^_^
Any suggestions?
with the mods installed your game should load slower because it's now way bigger than the stock game.
out of the box il-2 = about 4 GB not including paint schemes
IL-2 + 1.1 and 1.2 = about 14 GB not including paint schemes folder
as you can see, your game has put on some weight and has to read all that to load.
