I seem to still be having an issue getting this beautiful map to work. After installing everything as it should be, I continue to get the landscape vkg_crete/load.ini load error message when I select it in QMB and then when I try to load it in FMB it just crashes to desktop. Here is my all.ini file....Is this the problem? I followed the readme...

Hi - make sure the texture files are in the path /mods/mapmods/maps/_tex/land/summer/vkg_Crete .

Also - please note this map was configured to run in the UI 1.1.1 - which is in a nutshell contains objects from IL2 4.09, plus LAL RONE's hangar mod, plus Canon's BlankFieldPlate.

I have recently installed UI 1.1.1 and the new 3bg KTO map and it works fine. Also, I checked the path of the textures and they were in the exact path you specified. Is there anything else I could be missing? It has to be something small that I missed. It always is, but I double checked everything...Any ideas? Thanks!

OK - I think I know what the problem is for you guys!

The CreteMapPack1.3 zip file had the folder path for textures as

Mods/mapmods/_Tex/land/summer/vkg_Crete

when it should be

mods/mapmods/maps/_Tex/land/summer/vkg_Crete

Make sure you have the the latter folder tree in place.

I updated the link with the correct folder paths, and sorry for any trouble (that was really sloppy of me :oops: ). And anyone else who unzipped it over their older install of the map - Your texture updates are probably in the wrong place, but your map will load anyway if you never deleted the original texture files. (the map will just be using the older texture files) So make sure they are in the right place.

So I worked out an easy way to edit the static reducing object load in certain areas while making sure to leave vital things, like airfield objects, harbor items, etc - So - as soon as I publish my El Alamein map in the next few days i will create a "lite" version of Crete - cheers - viking

At the moment, RL is taking over for now (selling one house and buying a new one) - but maybe later in the fall I'll be able to work something up. I have an idea for how to filter some things out while retaining important things in the two cities where I think people have problems (Chania and Iraklio) - but haven't had time to try them yet - Cheers-viking
