[MOD] vkg_El_Alamein

Poltava Wrote:Woof. A really stunning map, stunning. Detail work to die for. One of the best!

And I had no problems to get it running either. And create and save missions in FMB. (But a version without the friction mod is probably a good idea.)

I found some small glitches at the coastline, though, with textures a bit mis-aligned. For example this one:

[Image: eal-glitch.jpg]

OK - I figured this out and am working on fixing it as well as I can. Too much blur on the map_c shoreline and in a lower res/lower antialiasing environment the game can't handle those transitions as well on complex shorelines. cheers - viking

Dear Vik, I think the best way is to wait for your definitive version. If also that will produce installation problems in my computer I will send a private message to your account. In any case now i give you the contents of my error file in the main Il2 folder :

I got your new map parts, and applied them, but the problem is still there, perhaps a bit smaller, but still. See below:

Wish I could help you out, but when it comes to mapmaking I'm a complete noob. :???:

PS. Yes, I can corroborate that the same anomaly can be seen on Delvpiers Philippines map.

Thanks, Peter - I'll keep working on it - it has to do with transitions between different rgb values on map c - on my install everything looks fine with land geometry=3, 4xAA, in 1600X1200 resolution - but I want to get the map looking as good as I can for all systems - can you tell me what resolution you use on the game, and graphics settings from your conf.ini? thanks - viking

Maybe I'll just get rid of the sand bars :wink:

Maybe I'm using a queer resolution? (I'm glad to change it!)

VGideo Mode Setup IL-2: 1152 x 864 x 32

Conf.ini:

[window]
width=1152
height=864
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=1
Use3Renders=0

[GLPROVIDER]
GL=Opengl32.dll

[GLPROVIDERS]
Open GL=Opengl32.dll
DirectX=dx8wrap.dll

I think I've got the coastline kinks worked out - this will be moved out of beta in the next few days. I will be supporting a version that does NOT need the airfield mod. Some more screens (all taken at 12 noon):

After my hundreds of useless attempt for to display on my computer the map of Viking, behold, a small change to the name of a file and that's all resolved, it works wonders. use the stock MTO_Clouds256.tga instead, because that _med cloud file is only part of my "Default Map Upgrade Pack"

Big Grin Big Grin After many fly over your fantastic map I had an idea that could perhaps be incorporated into the latest version. It would be really marvellous to be able to remove all those horrible zig zag roads and railway that make unlikely the scenery of all the maps. There is a tutorial of Fabianfred link to http://allaircraftsimulations.com/forum/...ght=trains and a series of Kevinp ideas link to (The link is inoperative) that may be useful to create the first absolutely perfect map in the history of flight simulation. This is absolutely not a criticism, is just a dream that chases me for years but I am not quite able to achieve.
