are there any mods out there that fix the TBF/B5N, etc... ? the current FM makes those aircraft a pain the A** to fly. I refuse to believe those planes had such terrible handling characteristics in real life.

fairly sure this has been asked and answered many times.

the deal, as i understand it, is no mods will be done of "stock" aircraft, so in order for these aircraft to have corrected FMs they would need to be added as "new slot" aircraft.

Bending the rules would be cheating. If you had a proper FM for a TBF compared to someone without mods then you would turn and handle better and also fly faster than them most likely since the FM's in general have been toned down on all aircraft partly because all the maps are not full size but the runways are full size.

i realize that, but i think this case could be an exception. especially if someone from this site who knows what they're doing handles it. i'm not asking for the TBM to be turned into an f-22

can't be an exception. If it is then AAA can just be any other modding site. Just adding fire extinguishers to a B17 for example is cheating just because you can do something someone else can't. You can save yourself if you are on fire. If the FM is changed on the TBF to be more easy to fly then your survival chances are better etc... you can do things other people can't. Only thing that can happen is a new slot then proper FM.

best solution is just to improve the avengers flight model and
add it in a new slot, hopefully someone will do it soon as the existing one
