[request] G-meter / indicator information
#1

Hi all,

Knowing how much G's you're pulling when flying and maneuvering is very important.
Especially for training purposes, and training new virtual pilots that tend to over control.

In real life the G forces are very noticeable, the coined phrase of "flying by the seat of the pants" dates as far back as the beginning of manned flight.

From Wikipedia:
Balance, equilibrioception, or vestibular sense is the sense which allows an organism to sense body movement, direction, and acceleration, and to attain and maintain postural equilibrium and balance. The organ of equilibrioception is the vestibular labyrinthine system found in both of the inner ears. Technically this organ is responsible for two senses of angular momentum and linear acceleration (which also senses gravity), but they are known together as equilibrioception.

Due to real world physical constraints the implementation and presentation of the equilibrioception sense in PC sims is limited or non existant.
Though a select few may be able to afford a full motion simulator like the major airlines  , in most sims it is conveyed by using visual and audible cues of Sight and Sound (grey to black outs, heavy breathing, etc) to give the virtual pilot a general idea of how many G's he's pulling.

In the P-47 there is an accelerometer gauge indicating the G-forces.

Would it be possible to have the G forces indicated as a running number on the bottom left side of the screen along with the other flight parameters (speed, height, heading)?

Salute!
