Special Request: Battle of El-Alamein Campaign
#1

Well yeah, is there anyone cooking a Battle of El-Alamein Campaign right now ??, either from an Italian perspective, or German perspective, with the new El-Alamein map ?? 8)

I really felt like those battles in Africa were fun to play, so it's been a while since I was hoping to see such thing. 8)

if you can post a link or name of a good book that has great detail on missions, etc, I can build one. I've only one campaign left on my to do list, and one about to be realeased.

Yeah I like the look of that new El Alamein map and have been pondering some missions - RAAF (Caldwell), Italians, Blenheims etc. Probably a few weeks away - got a few things on the boil; but I might do a short zuti type reflyable coop to check out this new map over the weekend to get things started...

I have a campaign coming up about II./JG27 and it's involvement in WW2 from the Battle of Britain to The battle of El-Alamein.
I will write about in this thread once it's done! Smile

Let me know when the Italian version you'd like to do with it, I really love to fly these planes ( MC-200, MC-205, G-50, CR-42 and CANTZ-1007 ) and to see how well they did.

If you want some books, I think those could do eventually, but I just can't say how good they really are since I never read them myself. Smile

Have a look in about 4 - 6 hours blackjak - I've started this one and will post a beta version (just for you!) later today. You will need eventually to get Karaya's P40-F (don't think he's posted it yet, so I will use the stock P-40E for now) and the El Alamein map by Viking. If you don't have that yet, get it, it's a good map - perfect for this campaign. There are some objects you need to get as well (Egypt objects and LAL Rones Hangar mod) but these are very worthwhile and fairly easy installs.

How cool are the Egypt objects? I spent quite some time just admiring them. great houses, pots, wells, hieroglyphics on walls - Very well done! I know you don't see them when you are flying past at 400 kph; but I think they are very cool and fun for the mission builder.

Plane list for Beta mission: Red: P-40E; P40E-M-105; Blenheims MkI; IV and IF; TyphoonIB; Tomahawks MkIIA and B

Blue: G-50; both Cants; CR42; all MC series to 1942; Bf109F2 Trop; Bf109F-2Trop; Ju88A4; Bf 110C-4 & 4B; He111 2& 6.

Mostly they're stock UI1.1; except the Typhoon; Blenheim IF; THe Cants; and I'm not sure about the 109s. Any way, check your mods folder - if they are not there they are all on AAA.

I will test on line ater today in Zuti mode (using v.2.3 at the moment) which you will be able to download with the beta mission; or you can grab it now if you download my Kalach Bridge mission from 4 shared - it's provided with that mission also (see seperate post today in this forum).

See you online - in the desert!

Salud all

I am looking around for some info about aircraft used in this battle so I can get the history reasonably close. I'm not finding much on the net (but will keep looking). Thanks for the book link BJ. Any ideas anyone?

Also looking for desert skins for the typhoon. Have not found any yet. Too lazy to make one myself. Any clues?

Ok, I'll sure love to try it on ( El-Alamein campaign when it'll be ready ), at least when I manage to get that map working, I was busy for a while, so is the beta version ( El-Alamein Campaign ) ready yet ?? Big Grin

However, I don't think I'll be around on the hyperlobby, I usually play in stand-alone mode, I'm sorry about it. Sad

But still, thanks for the work you're doing right now, it means a lot. Big Grin

EDIT: Correction, I've already got it working today ( El-Alamein map ). Just show me a link where to download ( Campaign ) it and I'll try it on as soon as I get the chance, I still don't have the airbases set, but it already works well. Big Grin

There is a mission already uploaded. Get it from: http://www.4shared.com/file/128612145/e ... beta_.html

I will be updating it in a day or so. The one thing you might notice is the Typhoons on red side - I don't think they actually used them , but I like 'em! I will change to Hurris in next version as more historically accurate. Hope to do at least two more missions on this map in the next couple of days following the next phases of battle.

Have fun with it
