Hi mate!

Today I have bought a periodical magazine in Italy that for this month tell of Japanese bombers of WWII and the desire of use the G4M2 in historical mission other than the Oka mothership is come back!

In the last weeks our site friend Danzigzag have done a lot of new weapon slot of existing plane that have their loadout updated into a more historical target!

I'm now thinking about this couple of things and if someone can do a new slot for the G4M2 with at last the same loadout of the G4M1 someother can fill the empty belly with a couble of door!

At last with a loadout update only we can use this plane for some more kind of mission that now even without bomb bay doors!!!

What do you think about?

Well...

First of all, the Betty was always operated without the bombbay doors. Only during unloaded flights they were fitted, occasionally.

There will also be the need to edit the 3D and the gunner stations have all changes compared to the M1 version.

So it won't be a quick fix.

The G4M2 is already in the game as the G4M2e, no mayor 3d work needed (on externals anyway). As far as I know, some people at SAS are working on it.

Hi Zorin!

I have chacked in my source but in the write I haven't read nothing about operation without doors but in a photo (or two perhaps) seem them missing like you write!
I can think that they are missing with torpedo load but this is only a mine thought; have you reference of that miss even for bomb load?

I really hope in a positive match because this is a big news about!!!

If so is possible adding new loadout at the G4M2 without the need of bomb bay modification!

Always if someone 'll do this modification!!!

"Aircraft of WWII" by Bill Gunston, Chancellor Press, 1997 edition, says that bomb bay doors were always removed for combat missions with the G-4M1. The doors were not hinged, and could not be opened and closed in flight.
The G-4M2 did have hinged doors on a bulged weapons bay.
1,230 G-4M1s were produced.
1,154 G-4M2s were produced.
Only about 60 G-4M3s were built, and only very few saw service before the war ended.
The M3 had more and better defensive guns and armor, but a much shorter range.
The M3 was probably what would have been in use in '46.
The basic design and airframe was obsolescent by about 1942, but no new design was ever produced to replace it, so like many axis aircraft, it flew right until the war's end. In fact, a G4M1 with special markings was used to transport the surrender delegation to Ie Shima in August 1945.
Interestingly, the book also says that the original design was for a four engined long range bomber, but the IJN insisted on a two engined design.
