In QMB,it appears that the default insignia for allied planes is the USSR star.This is fine as it can be changed when choosing which armed forces to pilot.
Unfortunately,when it comes to play time,the markings may be the ones selected,red star only or both at one time.Seems to occur randomly.
Can someone out there please explain why?

I think that some of the newer default skins have markings as part of ths skin.
Or is it something else?

Its the Skins. Many have the USSR star or the US markings on them.Look at the P-26.
Most are US marking on that plane. They did not paint any WITH out markings.

Well,I must have done something really wrong with all my ignorant fiddling.Now almost ALL non-USSR aircraft in QMB are overlayed with the red star.
Solved the problem the easy way - by reinstalling Il-2 from scratch.Everything works fine now.
