I decided to do a clean install of IL-2 prior to installing the UI. So I un-installed my old game 9patched to 4.09 and then installed a new game from the DVD - v 4.07. And that's where I've run into problems.

The installation went normally by all appearances. When I clicked on the game shortcut to launch it loaded ok to the main screen. But when I click on a single mission and select 'fly', the screen switches to 'standby', showing the % loading lanscapes. Instead of running through from 0 to 100% a error message appears stating that 'Mission loading failed'.

Doesn't matter what mission I choose, the same thing happens. Never had this problem before, anyone got any suggestions? It's driving me mad!!

My system is an Intel Pentium D 3.00Ghz, with 2GB RAM, an ATI HD 4850, Windows XP SP3.

So you did not patch it to 4.08 before installing UI?

I haven't patched it to 4.08, nor installed the UI, as I can't get the game to run in the basic 4.07 version.

Lol, I've tried that twice.

Just a little addon. check your C:\ and make sure there is NOTHING left behind.
Then run a search for IL-2. When all is clean reinstall.
I dont know if this will help or not but it never hurts.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I worked it out byt tinkering around.

In the Catalyst Control Centre I disabled Catalyst AI. That did the trick! Don't know why, but the game loads fine now.
