Hi there, i am new to the forum. I downloaded Unified Installer, installed it and when i run the IL2 it shows 5% and crashes to desktop...?! If someone could help to resolve this i would be thankful.

Did you download all parts?

There 8 parts to the installer- make sure you have all in the SAME folder- then run the first one and it does every thing else.

Back when I d/loaded all the 409 stuff, mine did the same thing, I had not installed 408 properly was my culprit. Check to make sure all is proper.
Hi, Thanks for the tips. I did download all the 8 parts and they were in the same folder. But do i need to install patch 4.08 again, after the Installation of mod?

As long as you had 4.08m the first time, thats it.
Now if you did a new install of the whole game then YES patch 4.08m first then run UI installer.
Well, after the download and install, I tried to run the program and had the "crash to desktop" problem you are encountering.
After some research I found my problem.
Something weird had happened during the part6 download and the file only amounted to about 180mg. All the other downloaded parts amounted to 250mg except the first and last ones.
My Solution: Check the location of your downloaded files (8 of them), right click each file, select properties and note the size of the files.... First one should equal 48.2mg. The second thru seventh ones should equal 250mg. The last file should equal 26.4mg. Then if all are correct in size just reinstall right over everything.
Takes awhile for the new program to load but its worth it seeing all the great mods done to this program. Hope this helps..... enjoy.

They all are 250 mb except the last one which is 26,4 mb
Ok it works now. I had to install the patch again. But here comes another problem. Whenever i want to drop a bomb from lets say a B-29, they just dont fall. It's the same with every bomber, fighter etc...
Uninstall Il-2, delete any left over folders, reinstall, patch to 4.08m, then install the UI. The file sizes are right so if your following the instructions then it's a bit of a mystery.
Hope you manage to sort it out :-)
Edit: Ah, okay nice one. Haven't a clue regarding the bombs - check your key assignments in the controls section.

It's alright. But a small update, Only the planes with bay-doors have this problem eg. B-29, DO-335

To fix that you need to assign a key to OPEN doors.
I think its the Power 10 which is the number 1 above the keys on your keyboard.
