Hej Guys i've made a "May 1940" skin for the Fokker D21.
What do you think must i post it as download??
I've used the original Dutch skin in the patch..

Maybe other skinners have also ideas, post them here..

Ive notice the several colour combinations, the skin in the patch is to pale...So i shall first visit the Soesterberg Airforce MUSEUM to study the plane you've seen at the 3th picture with number 221...
Then i shall post the skins..

What about a Finnish D.XXi skin as well? (I know I am nagging...)

Dutch guy Serval who did the dutch default skin says that the replica colors are wrong. I wouldn't be suprised because there is lot of things wrong in that replica. I recall that it was build with finnish fokker drawings which would explain why it has the thicked landing gear spats, instead of the narrow dutch spats. Also the replica colors seems to vary in every set of pictures, since it not in natural light.

Some finnish skins here for Poltava:

icipici28, this plane is included into the new patch 4.09.
The skin is found in the AI Dutch DXXI skin location. (The skin made by Serval, I think)
Ive modyfied it to a May 1940 skin with the orange national symbols..
I know that the plane inside the Museum has the wrong camo, so sad that a lot of plastic modeling companies have used this plane for color schemes..

Like Viikate says, unfortunately there are a couple of things wrong with the replica, like being some hybrid between the Dutch and Finnish version.
The replica was made in the 80's with what was known bakc then. Pretty recent research of old Fokker windtunnel models and wreckage show what the real colors should be. Only the sand is not really clear, it's a strange color which reacts different (on photo) in different light situations. Sometimes looking a bit more dark or more light then the other time.
I had contact with several experts, and though they do not agree 100% about the colors, the colors as used in 4.09 are the closest you can get, with what is known to date. The colors at the Militaire Luchtvaart Museum are according to the experts the worst you can get. But it is hard to break with things people are commonly used to.

Note that the Fokker D.XXI's had two different color schemes.
One used on 212-228 and the other used on 229-247
And still they are different between every single aircraft.

Here are samples of Dutch colors (with RAL and FS numbers) as published in the better Dutch books about the subject:
http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/page-RG ... lland.html
You will find that IPMS also published colorlists from the same sources.

Also: Here is a TTF of the lettering as used on the Fokker D.XXI: http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/forums/ ... prewar-66/

I'll upload simple templates there soon.

I hope this clears up why I choose for the colors used.

I've been working on this style Fokker scheme from void too, not quite finished yet (strange how great minds think alike, I started if 3 days ago) - constructive criticism is welcome. 1st time skin from void so be gentle  Not easy finding the right colours as every picture of them seems to have slightly different shades and the historical ones are black and white.

Looking good, a bit dirty.
The black border on the triangles are too small. At least at the Fuselage sides.
The black border allwais was 10 cm. No matter how big the triangle.
That is why you can download markingssets with different triangles:

Grubby and worn was my general intention, I like aircraft that look well used rather than straight off the production line. I wasn't aware the black outline was a specific measurement, mine only look to be about 5cm, will correct it - Thanks Smile
