Problems with the new 409 patch
#1

Help!

I have finally downloaded the new 409 patch from M4T and I am having problems getting it to work on my existing system.

I currently have the 408 mods on top of the IL2 1946, along with the swithcher. The problem is that I do the installation to my IL-2 folder but then nothing...when I load the game I can't access any of the new airplanes or maps...obviously I am doing something wrong.

I am starting the game using the Switcher.

Can someone please walk me through this....and be kind, as this is not my area of expertise.

Many thanks in advance.

none of that works anymore. install clean il-2 off disk. patch 4.08 even if you think your disk is 4.08. then patch 4.09. It will work then. AAA mods dont work with 4.09 without a outsite website called SAS or something. I have not even bothered to look because I'm going to wait for the AAA UI to be upgraded for 4.09 so I have no problems. I have played 4.09 and it is spectacular. But bugs are starting to be reported and I think AAA modders are waiting for the dust to clear before they rush in to switching over. Which in I think is very wise and will save alot of time and work in the long run. If you do install any mod activators from other sites be aware that down the road to have AAA's UI you will have to reload IL-2 and start anew. I have 3 working versions of IL-2 on my external 500GB harddrive so for me its not a big deal to reload things. But if you have just one IL-2 folder then be prepared to have some downtime when things progress.

Good advise!I run a few versions myself and I'll wait untill the dust clears for official AAA UI.However if u can't wait, and if you have the disk space check out SAS and upgrade another version of IL-2.

Thanks for the info...it is greatly appreciated.

I think at this stage I will do a couple of versions of IL-2.

One question, how do you link an external HD with the desktop switcher short-cut, especially with multiple versions...how do you know which version you are running?

As for the SAS switcher...I found the thread for that and have downloaded it...so perhaps that is an answer.

That said, the advice to sit and wait might be best. I just want to drop some torpedos with the SM 79 Smile

The problem:

I can boot up 4.09b1m fine and it runs well all by itself.

However, if I try to join a game through Hyerlobby (my usual online agent for gaming with IL-2), the game boots up ok, and the connection works ok, but when the game loads I get an error when the map begins to load. It always says the same thing except the map name changes depending on what map it was attempting to load. The message says "Mission loading error: Landscape 'CAN_Channel/CAN_40_load.ini' Loading error." I assume it is an error loading the map since it always refers to something geographic in nature.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix this?

I installed the patch over my exsisting game which, with a switcher, U select which to play, 4.08 or 4.09M etc. After I ran the patch, worked fine, when I used the sw to start, it reverted back to 4.08. I had to re-install patch and start game outside of the switcher to get back to 4.09m. It might be best to wait a little and see what shakes out!!!!!

I don't have a problem with it loading the incorrect version of the game when I start from Hyperlobby. After I run the appropriate switcher (really a batch file) for the version of the game I want to enter, it loads the correct version without a problem. It gets hung-up after the game loads, when it starts to load the mission that the host is running. It is then that I get the error message. The message always takes the form of "Mission loading error: Landscape 'CAN_Channel/CAN_40_load.ini' Because it refers to Landscape, I assume it is an error that occurred when loading the mission map.

I am trying to run 4.09b1m with mods. I am guessing I do not have the correct mod. But I am not sure.

Perhaps your post wasn't a reply to my message?
