Need a BoB book reccomendation, looking for time/date detail

I've got a bunch of books on the Battle of Britain. I'm wondering, what is the best one for a daily time table of incoming German raids, scramble orders, losses (on both sides) action reports at squadron or individual pilot level etc. I'm primarily interested in August 1940. What I'm trying to piece together is, for instance; what happened hour by hour on August 11 (or any other day in August 1940). A good website would be nice too. I've already found this one and it's pretty good http://www.battleofbritain1940.net/contents-index.html , however it's got some holes in it that could be filled with the right book or other website.

Thanks

one of your sources could be the JG26 war diary

found this:

11 August, Sunday

Even though the weather had cleared by Sunday morning, no convoys ventured into the Channel

Thanks, I haven't got that one yet, I'll try to find it locally or order it online.

Try these for starters but there are many more:

The Battle of Britain by Richard Townshend Bickers
The Fighter Command War Diaries vol1 and 2 by John Foreman
Battle of Britain by Len Deighton
The Most Dangerous Enemy by Stephen Bungay
The Hardest Day by Alfred Price

Then there this site: http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/index.html lots of good info with a nice calendar option giving an outline of each days' events.

Good luck with your quest,

WB.

How about "The Battle Of Britain" by T.C. G. James (ISBN 0 7146 5123 0).

Alternatively there is Winston G. Ramsey's "The Battle Of Britain Then And Now" (ISBN 0 900913 46 0), which contains complete casualty lists which can be helpful for time / date data etc.

Lastly Francis K. Mason's "Battle Over Britain". My 1969 copy only has an "SBN" 901928 00 3. But you should be able to find it on the web.

It's not exactly what you are asking for, but this book here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battle-Britain- ... 228&sr=8-1

will give you some insights into the british side of the battle - some tactical, but alot of political goings-on which were very influential, and not widely known. I highly recommend it - even if some of it is a little dry.

I highly recommend the Very hard to find but excellemt day by day account in" The Narrow Margin" by Derrek Wood and Derrek Dempster with the Foreword by Air Chief Marshal Lord Dowding. My well worn and ratty copy was published in 1969 at about the time BoB movie was released. It has a Lot of b&w war era Photos and Tech material as well. published by Arrow Book. I believe that it may have been reissued under a different title so you may need to look for it by the authors
