Sound engineering ?s reguarding, vol resetting, prs files.

I have a problem with the out of pit sounds. there extremely low.
So, Ive gone through, drivers , reinstall, no mods, stereo, 5.1. soundcard/onboard, and on and on (lots of hours)
the crazy thing a friend has almost the same rig, no probs, (win 7).
So now Im working with the presets file/prs.
This seems to be a work around, to the sound issue, just turn every thing up, but............!
Always a but... the volume seems to reset it self, not the file numbers, but the over all volume of objects.
Best I can describe: turn your volume on your stereo to 5, play, shut down, change a perimeter, and
5 is now 1, so you have to turn it up to 10, and so forth.
Also in game QMB, seem to be different than on line, (maybe QMB plays stockish, vs on line moded)
That I can deal with.
Its seems as the sound engine has some kind of security threshold?
Ive seen some posts, on file association, and the fix seemed to be copy and paste, that's just not going to work.
also Im getting a sound log file error on the jumo 211 file, no being able to read, maybe this is the root of the whole problem.
Im getting very baffled by this.
Does any have any ideas?
I would be truly grateful

I'm assuming you've adjusted the volume in game, under hardware and sound. There is a master volume and other volume levels.

Another step is to open your config.ini and go to here:

[sound]
SoundUse=1
SoundEngine=1
Speakers=1
Placement=0
SoundFlags.reversestereo=0
RadioFlags.Enabled=1

RadioEngine=2
MusicVolume=2
ObjectVolume=14

Thank you for your reply!
In answer to all your questions.....yes
More hours than I care to mention.
But you hit on something I did not know
attenuation to 14, I thought the limit was 7....
Bill, that might be the ticket!!! (If it is boy, do I feel stupid, I ve turned every other number up to find its limit LOL LOL)
I cant test it right now, I will in about 4 hours
I will certainly post back with my results.
Ive have about 4 other people with the same prob
on various rigs and os s.
Im hoping
thank you!

Its a no go!
In fact attenuation has no effect on the overall volume at all.
So something is not right but what?
I have 3 games on this rig ... my transfer from my old rig(works in my old rig XP)
a clean install w/ui1.1, and a new install for 409.
all 3 do not work..ok win7 prob....maybe,but others in my group, are working fine on 7
Clean installs down loaded from ubi at different times.
I have guys on XP, with the same problem.
That leads me to believe, its some inter action between the game and the os xp or 7
but what?
I baffled!!

so your problem is the over all volume, not just quiet sounds outside the cockpit?

I'm just trying to clarify your problem. It might be a sound card issue, you should probably post the make and model.

I actually discovered something pretty brilliant with my sound set up today.
I use a Focusrite Saffire, which I've used as an audio interface for recording from analog into a digital wav format.
I now have the inputs from my computer running through it which gives me additional EQ, compressor, and best of all...reverb.
The reverb isn't your basic reverb. i can make it so only the lowest tones echo, while the other frequencies remain dry.
For the game, it gives it an added surround sound feel, especially for the booms. The 3d direction is also a bit more blended and not so separated like right and left or middle.
I thought i might share that, as its something i've been trying to get my Focusrite to do for years.
I guess they finally got a driver update that made it doable.
I suppose its a great add on for my system because it runs off its own processor so it doesn't eat up any system resources to have 7.1 surround with the added effects.

Anyway, enough about my stuff, I hope to be able to help you more but i need more information.

thanks

Hey Bill
The control's, and or the config ini all work fine cept for the attenuation
which I discovered today, it has no effect at all. as far as I see now.
but I have to run some tests on multiplayer,
some new developments, the QMB seems to have a mind of its own and will reset
the prs file, but multiplayer, seems to work fine, that makes tweeking a little more complicated butt...
It will solve the prob
There is something in the game or rig, that is causing this thing.
and Im just about out of ideas, why the attenuation is nonfunctional, should lead to a clue
but what?
As far as sound cards, Ive used the on-board, realtec Hd, my soundblaster SE, with and without Achlemy,
my recording studio interface,(usb soundcard and more) all the same.
I dont know.....as Im talking/posting to my squad, Im getting about a 40% no go on there sound
The question posted "when do you hear your wingman" "what do your hear on fly-by"
The answer's are a lot of "I dont hear that" but that could be config.
A mate just built a rig with realtec HD...out ta the box no config stock UI, win 7
just like mine, hes got it, we compared notes for hours.
theres a bug, but why the QMB, and the attenuation?????
I wont give up, but for now, I gotta go prs
Gremlins?
