Gremlins & Mods

Gremlins :veryangry: are as indigenous to aviation (of any form) as fish are to water.  Case in point. You start up the game, takes a little while because the files are so huge, you get to the Menue Tongue ...BAM! the mouse is frozen   ONLY thing to do is ALT/CONT/DELETE.... Cry Cry
I stumbled upon a solution. If this has happened to you.
When A/C/D takes you back to Desktopp, close out the Task Manager and hit the IL2 icon on the toolbar. Takes you back and mouse is alive.
 :yay: Hope this helps some poor soul about to jump out of the 'basement window'

That has been happening for awhile now. I think that it (the mouse freezing) depends on what you have open on your desktop.

Not quite, it will freeze without anything else open (I know because it happens to me too).

I too have this problem with one of my many IL-2 set ups. The particular set up is IL-2 4.09m + UI 1.1 +UI 1.2 (with SAS button to make everything work). The set up worked okay with just the IL-2 4.09m + UI 1.1, but when I added UI 1.2 yesterday, the "frozen mouse" started on that setup.

As a result, I tried a test tonight with a clean IL-2 4.08m +UI 1.1 + UI 1.2 and no frozen mouse. Now I just have to figure out how to upgrade to 4.09m while keeping UI 1.1 + UI 1.2 and no frozen mouse.

To me it sounds like a file conflict that is causing the problem, I just do not know what file yet.

Another thing strange thing, my mouse only froze the "first" time I played my Il-2 4.09m + UI 1.1 + UI 1.2 setup, thereafter it played fine every time after that until I rebooted my PC and it would "freeze" the mouse the first time I tried to play my setup again.

Then again, I'd go a few times without the freeze Tongue and then........ :???: When I play the game, I have nothing else open.
Crazy. I will do a complete new install and up to 4.08 + UI 1.1 + 1.2, plus PeterD's 86 and 15...we'll see. Fingers crossed

If I get that freeze, I press alt+tab twice and it's gone.

I get that if I start IL2 and move the mouse before it starts loading. I either use ctrl-alt-del or windows button to get back to desktop. It can do it a couple of times if the game hasn't fully loaded yet by the time I try to get back in again.

The new 4.09m is a bit odd, if jump out to desktop and jump back in again I'll quite often get a black screen for upto 10sec but sounds are there, lastnight it did that and crashed all together?!?! :???:

Every one gets it mate. I get it. Just Alt Tab to Desktop and bring back up the game. Its due to the game being buggy, (Even without mods) and tends not to maximize correctly. Thus the mouse bug or freeze. Not much we can do about it. If at all.

I use the WIN key to get to the DT, then Alt+Tab back into the game. To prevent the freeze: click on the shortcut icon and DON`T move the cursor (the mouse) before you see the game splash screen, do it this way the next 10 to 15 times you start the game and it seems like windows "learns" how you want it to behave, at least it has worked this way for me. This method need you to be PATIENT and CONSISTENT! Remember The higher beeing didn

This has happened since day one.. it's not a show stopper and remedied by the press of a button. Normaly only happens on initial opening of the game, if you shut it down and open it again it will start normaly.. it's no drama.
