[BETA] MiG-15 and F-86A-5 (V2, included in HSFX4.1)
#61

Thanks for all the hard work PeterD, these are real beauties.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having the problem I am though, in that the AI cannot land the F-86. The MiG lands ok but F-86's just circle the airfield at 900 kph. I think they don't know how to slow down. This is with AAA buttons, with SAS they just overshoot and crash :S

Any help appreciated, I like to see my squadron mates make it back safe.

That's odd, they should be deploying the airbrakes when they are on final approach or close to. Are you using the AI mod or any other complex mod? Also, are you sure they had a landing waypoint in the airfield? (silly question, I know)

I have the Carrier 5.3.3 mod with the built in AI mod and my boys seem to be landing just fine.

Thanks General! That discards 2 sweet mods as the source of the problem. With a clean install of UI 1.2 they should behave correctly.

HOWEVER -I had completely forgotten about this-, the AI will fail miserably to land YOUR OWN aircraft if you turn on the autopilot. You have been warned (this is a known 'issue')

I just tested the AI landing on terra firma......no problems at all. The AI even use their airbrakes.

I think mixing mods from two or more different sites is just asking for trouble. That's just my opinion...people can do whatever they want. However, it's pretty obvious from reading the forums that this particular practice is resulting in a lot more technical problems. Hey, you pay for your thrills.

As far as that person with the AI 'landing' issue, unless they post the actual mission, it's impossible to diagnose. For instance, in many of my missions, I do not even land the AI. I have them circle the airfield as a CAP flight. So in that case, this 'circling' would be perfectly normal for that mission.

That was the problem, I was testing it in QMB and assumed the AI would fly my plane as they flew theirs. I tested in FMB with all AI planes and they landed beautifully. Thanks for the help and sorry for jumping the gun, guys.

Beautiful work Peter, can't wait to see the new pit for the Sabre............... but if I were a man wanting to change up skins on the Sabre how would I name the skin folder, I used the RU files "F-86A-5 Sabre, 1949" and a bunch of variations on the theme, I just have not used SABRE yet. Is the Pit for the Mig different than the one in this package?...............

Thanks for the hard work m8

Cheers

The name of the skin folder is derived from the first section of the air.ini text entry of each plane.
For example:
F-86A5 air.F_86A5 NOINFO usa01 SUMMER

So your skin folder should be named: F-86A5

The pit by Ranwers is a modified Mig-9 pit with great resemblance to the original MiG-15 one.
Recommented definately... Smile

Wops, my bad. If you didn't use the autoinstaller you have to create the skin folder manually:
PaintSchemes\Skins\F-86A5
PaintSchemes\Skins\MiG-15(bis)
