The incompatibly of AAA,SAS, and Ultrapack.
#1

Now I know that there are those of us who use the mods from AAA, SAS and Ultrapack 1.7(or whatever the current version is) but I've often wondered why mods from AAA,SAS, and Ultrapack 1.7 aren't compatible with each other. There is one exception to this and that is the Schimttfire from SAS. Now their are those who have the hard drive space to have more than one install of IL-2 to remidy this problem but there are some who don't myself included, just my current IL-2 install (4.09b1m with UI1.2 takes 23.0 GB of my 232 GB hard drive.) So could some time in the near future could the head persons of AAA,SAS,and Ultrapack have a brainstorming sesion to reslove these imcompatibilty issuses? A lot of people would like these issues resolved too I could imagine.

PS Moderators please do not delete this post, it should be up to the community to deside this matter too.

I believe I believe I beleave.....

Someday the political situation with these two super powers will combine and the Nuclear weapons proliferation will stop... Confusedhock:

However I believe it should not happen at the expense of "locking" the knowledge. Otherwise potential modders, specially those newcomers, would be sent back to a "user" position.
#4

I agree with your statement Tityus, the knowledge should be for all to use. I also belive that instead of having three seprate communitys of modder it would be better to have one community of modders who share ideas and information with each other to make IL-2 a better game for all.

Look! Nothing prevents you guys make several installations of IL2 and use different modsets. I have ATM at least 4 different installs. SAS is for offliners strictly. I have installed it and i like it.
Then there are some other modders that wants to cheat online by modifying FMConfused and other things to " be historically correct " so they really can say that teh P-47 won teh war....lol!
AAA stuff have a good relations with SAS and others. But some modpacks don't use the same filestructure than others and that causes problems.
AAA has 40000 members and i think that it tells something about our reliability.
Of course we have some teenagers and immature "computer excperts" that know everything about computers and specillay IL2 engine, but i haven't seen a single decent mod from these kids. And i doubt that i never will.
We are living in a cruel world. Some people are more honest than others...That is why we need some rules.
It may sound funny, because actually what we are doing here is toying with cracked code, but even Oleg has approved our achivements...
Kapteeni
EDIT. And we are doing this for free!
And please, no comments like This and that modpack is sooo much better than AAA. Or AAA guys are Olegs secret agents or ILLUMINATY members. Discussion is always a good thing, but insulting and making stupid comments is stupid. Just for you guys to remember.

IMHO the "competition" between SAS, Ultrapack, AAA & some minor others is destroying the game, when the mod-overlords should be working together to help the game live on. I don't thik the question is "Should AAA,SAS, and Ultrapack be compatible with each other". It's long overdue for the various mod-overlords to get together & establish some sort of body that will decide on a semi-regular basis ...

1. the standard required for a mod to be considered for inclusion in future "expansion" packs; This standard should include the criteria of enhancing game play and being of value to the sim community, not just another mod that make very minor changes to an object etc.

2. which mods meet the required standard. These mods can then be packaged as a single "authorised" pack;

Of course each mod-auhor would like to have their mod used by others, but it's time for the mod-gurus to stop pushing their own barrel & recognise that their partisan approach is not in the best interests of the flight sim community.

I forgot to say just 1 thing more. How come other modpacks uses allmost all AAA mods, if they are so bad? Think about that.

I understand that this is opinion... however, mine is the complete opposite.

The Mods gave life to the sim. I'm not familiar with the other communities, but this guys here have done a great job in keeping this sim alive. Not to mention the patience they have. They bother to answer to people demanding stuff who didn't even bother to read the previous post on the thread they ask for help.

In general, they are pretty open and there are not many "I'm not answering your question" attitudes.

Although, I'd like to have access to more info so I could create better stuff, my hat is off to AAA.

i would kindly ask you to post this at other communities too ...

AAA has publicly announced our intentions and willingness to unify mod pack with other modding communities ...

we have changed our policy , opened doors to everyone ( links ... ) and we published apology for all past wrong doings :

(The link is inoperative)

But ...there are conditions though cos we must be true to our well known policy regarding modding :

1 Online game must remain protected ( no modding of stock AC ..FM/WM/DM)
2 Respect toward work of others ... no re-modding without author's permission ( especially files from Daidalos team )

We are willing to loose our AAA UI mod pack title and we agreed to some neutral name for future uni mod pack

my question is what have others done to bring us all together and give final user unified mod pack ?

.

Sure you do kapteeni, you might like, and are capable, to have 4 or more installations of modpacks on you computer, other may not. In my squadron this modpack mess is getting noticable. People who are not that computer literate are getting fed up to have 4 or more installations of this game to fly on the servers their squadron likes. They should not have to ask their sons to make installation after installation just to play this game.
I am not a proAAA or proUP or proSAS or whatever. I am a proIL2. For this to work, for this game to strive it is IMPERATIVE that modpackers, at least the major ones, WORK TOGETHER and are compatible.

I was hoping there would only be ONE online modpack, but it will never ever happen, It never did for other games, it wil never happen for this. The next best thing is that those that exist are compatible at least... at least the major ones as I said.

kapteeni Wrote:AAA has 40000 members and i think that it tells something about our reliability.

I can't see the connection mate. Size does not equal reliability. Reliability to me is quality. When WoP servers went UI1.2 I was very happy. WOW. MDS!!
The distribution debacle with corrupt files almost made a 1/3 of my squadron to stop play this game. That is not reliability to me. I speant hours(!!) helping out all the mishaps for my buddies when finally a torrent was released thankfully.
To lean on size alone is just arrogant and arrogance is a dangerous game to play. Willingnes to cooperate, humbleness, open for new ideas and competence is the game to play kapteeni; MDS and SFS file are only examples.

Amen to that brother.

PS: Do not in ANYWAY think I am not greatful for all the work you guys have done. I for one knows what is takes to makes something flyble with quality in IL2. I just implore you to take a somewhat humble attitude, which I am greatful that you are. As fly-zo mentioned, your stance has changed and for this I am a very happy camper indeed. Hvala!!!!

I say again ... we are doing everything in our power to unify mod pack

but sadly we are not meet half the way by some communities

and that isn't AAA's fault ....

I know mr Zo that you are.
No need to write it on their noses though. Rule nr 1 in diplomacy (because this is what it has boiled down to: dimplomacy): Don't tell the other part how good you are and how bad he is. Never worked, never will.

PS: Sta je stobom i ove jene??? hehe

Im not telling anything to "other" party .... my statements here are directed to final users so they can judge for themselves

I believe IL2 community is entitled to know all the facts and all the actions from AAA , and they are well capable to draw conclusions for themselves .... transparency > first rule of good relationship with all

as for your P.S. goes :

google translator doesn't work for you very well i'm afraid ... ;-)

I Think that we will have great new UI pack soon. Of course there will be people who don't agree, but mr. Fly Zo has summoned things pretty well at hes posts. We just need to wait a bit.
And pardon, i have some serious mapmodding to do, so im off for a while.
And those who waits for better modpacks, why not start to make new map. The tools are there. New maps are always fun to fly IMHO and you will undesrstand the filestructure of basic mods. I personally do not know anything about FM and adding new cockpits and stuff. I just want to fly them all...
PS if someone find my post insulting, please bare with me. I didn't meant to be rude....
