REQUEST - Rewind Mod for Movie makers
#1

Hi Everyone

Is there or could there be a Mod that allows rewind of IL2 track playback? - it would be a real boon for the movie makers I'm sure.

Just a thought, forgive me if I'm covering old ground.

BEST. REQUEST. EVAHR.

Movie makers really need a mod that allows you to fast-forward, pause, or rewind in a track. Preferably better than 16x. It's really annoying to have to wait the entire track (2 hours is a long time, even at 16x ).

You guys must think that a track file is like a movie........ wrong.... a movie only has one viewpoint.
Here you change the angle and viewpoint and from different planes and static cameras.

All a track is.....is a mission file ...which plays out without you as the player...but has your stick movements copied into it and how your a/c acts......

not possible to rewind action in a game

In the Red Baron 1, we could rewind, forward and do anything. It was very easy to make cool tracks.
But the IL-2 has a lot of things to calculate and I think it's why is so complicated to do that, but it isn't too impossible.

Many games now have a rewind feature that can be used to undo an action that hasn't gone as planned, mostly console racing games such as Codemaster's GRID and Turn 10's Forza 3.

It is definitely possible within a game to have the ability to move backwards and forwards throughout a Track, but how much coding would be needed to add something like this I do not know.

Hi Everyone

Thanks for so many replies - to clarify I only mean a rewind pause etc within a saved track - not within the game itself...
It is because of all the possible Cam angles and viewpoints that it would be nice to view a piece of action from different points of view without having to play the track from the top each time in order to capture it.

All the best
