Mod Free Campaign anyone ??
#1

Hi guys

I was unable to make the new AAA 1.2 UI work properly, so I just gave up until something easier to install it for it would someday be available to install.

So in the meantime I was trying to build up my very first campaign and it's about the new SM-79 Sparviero, right now four missions are already built up out of this project. But instead of just a series of missions, I'd like to have it on the Career choice available for Italy. I really am in love with this new plane right now. But please go easy on me, this would be the very first I'd build something like this.

So, since I don't know how to install the mods, I now need serious advice on how to switch it to careers mode so I'd have access to the Italian medals.

Obviously, it's really fully fictive and I was still able to install the Italian pack but nothing else.

The reason I'd want it to be Italian would be mostly because I've already seen a bunch of WW2 Air Sim games over the years but never did any campaigns of my own. To my disappointment, Italy was never to be included in these games as a career choice so I found it really unfair and now I want to do my own share about it. I had already known that while Japan, Finland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia as allied to Germany during the war were included, but not Italy despite being the most notorious allied to Germany that I heard about so why not Italy ??

Anyway, can you guys help me out over this ?? I clearly need good advice.

I too had a butt load of problems with the 1.2, finally, I extracted the files into my IL2 1946 using winzip manually, other than using the installer provided, and got it to work. My best advice to you my friend, is to make a copy of your IL2 folder, and use the copy to "experiment", or rather see if the mods work to a point. I seem to notice that the trouble I had was with a adobe file that accompanies each download file, or rather thats what my Bat Computer was tellin me. So I just highlithed, say, 20 files at a time to extract, that way I narrowed down the problem file. Good luck with your campaign though, and have a good weekend.

To turn your missions into a campaign, you need at least two additionall files:

campaign.ini
and
info.properties

When completed, you will need to copy all of these files and your mission files to your missions\campaign\IT\myCampaign directory, where myCampaign is a folder hodling your campaign files. There can be no spaces in your folder name.

CAMPAIGNS.INI will look like this. You will need to list all the .mis files from your missions. Replace the names myMissions below with the names or your missions.

[Main]
Class il2.game.campaign.CampaignBlue
awardsClass il2.game.campaign.AwardsDEfighter
  • myMission1.mis
    myMission2.mis
    myMission3.mis
    myMission4.mis

INFO.PROPERTIES will look like this. The Name and Description that open the first two lines are keywords; leave then alone. The rest should be used to fill in with the name and description of your campaign.

Name The name of my campaign
Description This campaign does this and that and whatever, with this airplane and that. \n\

For ideas of how all this works. take a llok at these files in some of your favorite campaigns. Use Notepad or Wordpad to read the files. Also, don't miss this site: http://www.il2-fullmissionbuilder.com/index.php

Thanks you guys, I hope this will help out. Big Grin

Right now, I finished building the 5th mission, but these are just the easy part right now.

In fact, I'm more aiming for at least 40 missions or even more and hopefully plenty of torpedo attacks jobs, it's about time we'd get campaigns about these on the axis side.

There were also mentions of Italian troops involved in Stalingrad, often using MC-200 Saetta as fighters on this battle against the Soviets.

So guys, I think I already completed up to the 7th first missions so far, but only the 7th is an actual combat job, the rest are somekind of boot camps inspired by the first of the Luftwaffe Pilot Campaign Series more meant for actual begginners in this game. Right now I called my Campaign "SM-79 Flight Academy"

Right now, I'd like to have some people here to give it a try and send me some feedback even though the 1st chapter known as "Boot Camp" can be boring even though you get a chance on getting practice with the SM-79's bombsight, and it also include a torpedo mission...Already.

It's still far from being completed though, the 7th mission is the start of the 2nd chapter I call "First Combat", I could still have called it "First Blood" if you know what I mean...

...Anyone interested on helping me out ?? Smile

Please understand it's the first time I build actual missions since I play this game ok ?? 8)
