Check where IL2 was installed. If the unistall is hi-lited use that to REMOVE all of your old
Install. Besure to move any or all mods -skins- or any thing else you want saved.
After the disk UNINSATALLS the game you should be able to reinstall it.

Have you gone into your program files and looked to see if there is a Ubisoft folder?IL2-1946 installs into this folder ,go into it and make sure the 1946 folder is gone, if it isn't remove it ,then try to reinstall.

the a.exe will work with or without a Ubisoft /IL-2 folder

Error 1606 is a common Windows error. Error 1606 is usually caused by missing system files, wrong system settings or a corrupted registry file. Run a registry scan to check for registry errors & other system problems. 90% of the time this will fix the cause of the error.Typed Error 1606 into Google this is what I found and there does seem to be a fix for it.

Thx guys for the fast assistance.i decided for the fast and less painfull workaround.
Messing with the reg files is not my thing.
Just installed il2 on friends pc ,burned on dvd, and than copied it on my rig
installed 408, UI 1.2 ,and everything looking nice and smooth.
