your new map textures are fantastic !! thanks for the inspiration.

So you like working on small maps?
well- one small map that cries out for your master treatment is Nomonhan.
& this would be timely - now we have the I15-bis.

Like you said of the Okinawa map, the Nomonhan map is also too flat.
Not because of hills so much- but because the rivers should flow in steep-sided gullies.
But, with your textures, plus a new contour map, this map could be close to perfect!

regards, felix

:???: and where is that map?

Never heard about it, is it a wip project ?

Hi redko, I've tested the map and also the vpmedia proposed changes. My comments to improve it (always constructive Smile):

- The overall feeling is great, specially from high altitude.
- In my opinion vpmedia's idea about increasing detail is very good in general. But in this particular case, for the beaches, gives them a more 'rocky' air. I would prefer less rocky beaches. Even yours are too rocky already for my taste.

- Your Suribachi is much better than the original... but you have to test vpmedia's: It keeps your suribachi air but blends much better with the sorroundings, it's great!! (beaches are vpmedia's):

- The borders of some textures can be seen yet, see at the left of the picture (beaches are vpmedia's):

- I think the airstrips sorroundings should blend better with the rest, they can be seen too much.

What do you think?

redko Wrote:Wonder how it render for real. Can you :

- post pics with the entire Iwo ??
- explain your method to share with all people here
- if you agree i could produce a new version with credits and all.......with "...vp_redko....tga" texture name?

It's GREAT when the work of a single man inspire the others....it's a good competition in the good aspect of the term

I think youre doing well without my help, I just wanted to share these two ideas Smile

http://www.filefront.com/14946331/MAPMODS_IWO.ZIP
(Everything in one folder just extract to the MODS folder, easy to deactivate.)

The method is to decrease the texture to 50%, duplicate it 3 times to fill the place and then get rid some of the repeating details with the stamp tool.
