Making an independent cockpit
#1

Hello, I was wandering, how do you make a retextured version of a cockpit for a borrowed cockpit, without affecting the original?

If you have a plane, it has own folder and own cockpit folder with all the files so it should work by editing the files in the new plane's cockpit folder.

What applications are needed to open the files in the cockpit folder?

Actually when the beta gun sight mod by NWD was embedded as part of the History Hsfx Mod that you have to enable for any mods to work it changed all of the default gun sights on USN/USMC aircraft. Not only did he change the .tga files to what he decided was the correct size, but he also edited the mask files so that it limits how much of the gun sight you actually can see on the reflector glass. In order to see the close range ring of the Mk8 gun sight you have to move your face almost against the monitor if you are using TrackIr 6DOF.

So more than the tga files were tinkered with in the cockpit files. So what application would be used to look at and edit a .mat or .msh file?

And yes I downloaded and installed the "Defualt Reticles" mod from the 242 Sqn site and placed it into the JSGME mods folder and activated it. It changes the all of the gun sights back to the default sights except for the F4U-1 and Corsair MkI (they still have the N3 from the history hsfx mod) and the P-400, P-39D 1&2 and P-39N-1 (no gun sight reticule at all now). I did fix the F4U-1 by adding a folder (F4U-1 using the the files from the F4U-1A folder and the reticle.tga file from the F4F-4) and now they have the old default Mk8 gun sight that they had in the 4.09m stock game. Still no fix for the Airacobra.

I know it is a moot point now, but this gun sight mod should have been an optional one to activate or not activate by the user. If you go to the WIP Beta mods thread you will find this mod located there not in the approved mod thread.
