Can't get TRAA working... help!
#1

After years of using ATI I've now got an nVidia card. I thought, this should run IL2 great! nVidia are, after all, supposedly the best for OpenGL games. Right? Wrong.

I can't get transparency AA to work in IL2, which is sort of hilarious given that it was never a problem on my ATI cards. Sorry, I can't help ranting a bit. Anyway I have a GTX 260 and I've tried the recent drivers and also the just-released drivers, but TRAA just won't work. Any ideas?

Did you enable it in the Nvidia control panel?

Yes. Is there any other way to enable it?

Just enabeling it may not do the trick. You have to tell the card to over-ride the game.
Also, did you run Driver Cleaner before you put in your Nvidia card to get rid of ALL instances of those garbage ATI drivers?

If you don't know what I'm refering too, shoot me a PM and I'll walk you thru step by step.
I'm currently running twin GTX 295's with 62fps constant (I leave Vsync on due to Track IR limitations). With Vsync off I get between 144 and 250 fps.

Though I fly through the valley of death, I will fear no evil.....
For I am the meanest SOB in the valley!

Not to my knowledge, you could try nHancer but if its not working though the Nvidia control panel then I doubt it would work though nHancer?

Can you remember what settings you could choose for Antialiasing Transparency on the ATI card?

It's a new machine, no ATI drivers were ever installed on it. Very clean install of everything, I built it myself.

As far as I'm aware, telling the card to override the game is the *only* way to get AA in IL2. There are no in-game options nor any conf.ini settings relating to AA.

I have AA forced via the card, and it works. I can get regular multisampling and even "combined" AA using nHancer, but TRAA (whether Multi- or Super-sampled) refuses to work, regardless of the selected AA mode.

No. I actually uninstalled it, due to another problems that I couldn't resolve: stuttering. It's strange that the game runs okay on my prehistoric single core FX-55 and ATI X800 AGP card, yet stutters like mad on my new Core i5-750 and GTX 260 PCIe card. The framerate counter is higher but the actual gameplay is certainly not smoother. So I gave up on it - it's not worth the hassle! Sad
