There is other il2fb.exe from Hades (ultr@pack maker) which makes use of more than 1gb ram which is compatible with 6dof
1GB client executable. It really drastically improves your game performance!
You Must have more than 2GB + memory. A 64 bit version of Windows is recommended.
I have Win7 64Bit and it ROCKS! No more stuttering when flying low in cities even with nearby smokes. No stuttering inside clouds also! Smile It runs also in 32 bit Windows XP . Test it though because in Win XP 32bit there has been 1 case that a particularly big map failed to load and it stoped at 90%.
Please Back Up your modded il2fb.exe and try this one. And Please post your feedback here. I am thinking to add it as a selectable addon through JSGME in the last patch.

Quote:I found this post from Zoltan rnzoli on SEOW forum on a client side modified IL2FB.exe to run on 2gb of RAM:

If there is a suspicion that other maps also need extra large memory block for a 2-hour mission, the following simple test can be done:
1. Load a heavy mission on that map.
2. Start it and leave it running with AI aircraft only (no humans needed)
3. Periodically, e.g., every 15 minutes enter >GC into the chat line
4. In case the "total" value is nearing 100MB, the total IL-2 freeze is likely to occur due to hitting its own self-restraint limit. The other maps I tested can play around 50-80MB with no trouble at all, some shorter missions even stay in the low 25-50MB range.

It is hard to say, whether this is a memory leak fault or not. Guadalcanal is a large map, and I have seen memory reduction on other maps, as objects were being gradually removed (crashed, landed etc.) over time. So having a workaround is good enough for me, I don't want to chase the developers with this, especially when they solely focus on SoW:BoB nowadays.

File is Zolatan IL2fb.exe. I've tested this modified client IL2FB.exe and i works great! I haven't had a lockup and much smoother game play the past 2 Forgotten skies missions Ive run on. Prior to it, I had several freezes and one total lockup. The only problem is, it does not support 6DOF.

Hi thank you for the new .exe modde-performance, just one question: It is not clear for me IF is better to use the version "1 Gb" or "2GB" for people (like me) who have MORE than 2 GB into MotherBoard PC. Thank you in advance for clarification about this.Regards.

Will it work with Windows 7 - 64 with 6gb of RAM?

I'm not clear on the limitations of RAM referred to.

Thx.

Well i've tried them on Win7 x64 RTM (4Gb DDR2) HSFX 4.1

and Zoltan one works ok ( some new maps gives me CTD in FMB though) while Hades one crash at game startup ( probably my settings though )

hope that helps

Hi guys
If you inspect this file, you'll see this is the same as the UP 1.8 .exe.
Nevertheless I dropped it in my main folder and it's working (as usual perhaps). I fly under Win7 with 4Gb ram.

No pRoblem for me, that' good!!
See you

I tried all of them and none of them worked for me. I popped the IL-2.exe in and it loaded the game just fine, but when I tried to run some missions that I know have a lot of objects in them, they all locked up at 90%. Then I put my old IL-2.exe back in, and my game was back to normal. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

It seemed to run without a conflict, but it also didn't seem to change anything. Same old big slowdown looking at the bigger cities.
