What is causing brown water texture
#1

Does anyone know which Mod is causing these patchy textures in the water all around the coastline. It only appears in a game which also has the Unified Installer.

Can be the coastal textures? Not an expert but maybe this, I will love to have muddy rivers one day in Il2, will really add inmersion to South East Asia campaigns

I have this effect often in "Landscape detail=medium" but not in "perfect" Modus!

I'm sure this must be some kind of Mod rather than a Texture because if I take any map I have made in the map building game & put it into the Unified Installer I get this effect all around the coast, but I haven't changed anything in the load.ini.

I first noticed this effect in screenshots of Avala's Benghalli map & was keenly looking forward to getting hold of his map so I could find out the secret of how he did it. But after acquiring his map I quickly realized that he didn't do anything, it's an effect that appears on all maps in the Unified Installer.

All I want is to find out how to turn it off because after a bit of experimentation I decided it was making my maps look worse rather than better.

Have you tried a back up config.ini ?

Just a shot in the dark, I have seen some strange things happen with a corrupted config.ini file.
The config can be corrupted quite easily even with out editing it,or having touched it in awhile I have come across it getting corrupted.
It is my first thing I check when troubleshooting,I use my back-up config.

Sorry I don't have much else to offer

Thanks for your reply EasyRider. I think your shot sounds like a good bet.

Are you using any of the alternate graphic *.dll's that are around? I remember trying them out a while ago and one of them caused the coasts to look like that.

I'm thinking Conf. ini problem too.

Remember my black oil spill water in all maps.

Your lucky this seems like the local sewage treatment plant is under bad managment.
There will be serious fines or even jailings once caught on CNN.

HA HA HA  Big Grin 8)

I had a major environmental catastrophe with my black water maps.

It looked like EXXON Valdeze Oil Spill but 100 million times greater then that.

As far as I am aware I am not using any other .dll's, unless there was one in Ui 1.1

Hi mate,
I think you and i might be thinking along the same lines here, i've been working on a little project for some months trying to get 2 or 3 water textures on one map and i've managed to
produce the results that you show in your screenshot, in fact i can get several different shades of the same muddy texture and it has nothing to do with the confi ini at least not in my
experiments. I will post you some screenshots of what i've managed when i can get my photobucket account to cooperate again, my only other collaberator on this project is Bombsaway
who has offered to surply me with some excellent textures. I' ve kept this under wraps until now in case i couldn't pull it off and i'll be honest i have run into a wall with it, if you are interested
i can pm you info and results so far.

check other maps for the same problem. my hunch is that it's the texture used in the load ini for the reefs on that map.
