Kidding
Well 1.2.5 is near release which is days away I imagine, it will be in there.

Even when they are released I am already planning on making an update to the engine to go along with the future release of the Cockpit. I found some more detail on the engine thanks to Ace Of Aces and I have made a very tiny error in the engine, the overheat temperature is a tad higher than should. Also some other things to make the engine more complex and more to real life.

Hi guys, I am getting 60% CTD after installing these, but I think I know why.

I do not have any of the UI versions, only 4.09 then added loads of custom mods myself. I was wondering, is there any way I can manually update my buttons file to support the mig and sabre? practially everything else has worked for me except for these planes :\

I believe this mod is supported by installing the AAA UI mods.

Lt. Wolf or Monguse can tell you better than I.

I totally missed that post, but I just read through the whole thing and it's very informative. I guess I'll just have to be Patient. One question though, The ammo in the F-86A-5 seems to run out fairly quick. From what I've read on this, the F-86 had around 1600 rounds. I noticed that the ammo in the F-86A-5 is about half of what the XP-86 has. Are the number of rounds modeled accurately in the F-86A-5?

Thanks to all involved in this project, this is going to be great once the kinks are all ironed out.

F-86A-5 have same ammo as XP-86

But F-86A-5 use browning m3 machinegun with rate of fire 1200 rounds per minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okRRc4hqV0c

For extra clarification: my XP-86 was just a P-80 in a pretty skin, so weapons, engine, flight model, ETC was the same as the P-80. F-86A-5 has a ROF of 1200rpm per gun, and the ammo is something like 230 rounds per gun or so (I don't have it right here so I can't say for sure)

In case anyone missed this,

Version 2.0

Credits: (in no particular order)
  • PeterD - 3D models, UV mapping, importing, skins, class coding
Lt.Wolf - Improved/tweaked/refined flight models and engine models
Flakiten - Original aircraft slot and a lot of help with the classes
    US_GRANT - Great skin templates!
UF_Josse - pointed out error in the M3 .50cal ammo, which I think it's fixed now (thanks Josse!)
Narvik - info on the MiG-15
GJE52 - Joint effort to fix the nose gear bounce problem!

anyone else I missed (please let me know) and of course everyone from previous releases

What's changed
  • -New F-86F-25E and F86F-25L (they look the same as the A model for now), 25E model is for the early F models with slatted wing, 25L model is the late 'fixed', bigger wing
-New MiG-17, early version (looks like the MiG-15 model for now)
-New afterburner effect for the Mig-17 done by Lt.Wolf
-Fixed a bug in some materials
-MiG-15(bis), removed automatic airbrakes. If you want to have them, use the MiG-15(bis)Late model instead. Performance-wise they are the same for now.
-Fixed the silly, annoying bug with the Sabres bombs (they work now and the AI should be able to use them correctly aswell)
-Fixed several bugs with the MiG-15, including, but not limited to, blowing the tail off would not result in loss of elevator and rudder controls.
-Changed the weapons in the MiG-15 so that the main trigger fires all guns instead of having separate controls.
-Sabres, improved ground handling, in particular the nose should not bounce, unless you are going cross-country of course.
-Minimum 'nerf' to M3 .50cals, removed the explosive from the ammo, so its APIT/API now.
-Sabres, improved the gear extend/retract sequence a bit more, so that the rear gear inner door wells will close once the gear is fully extended
-Migs, Sabres, while going at transonic speeds, aircraft handling will degrade progressively (this is a bit experimental, and varies from plane to plane). The extent of the 'effect' is affected by aircraft type, height, and atmospheric conditions.
-Migs, Sabres, while going at transonic speeds, the cockpit will gradually shake more the faster you go, particularly noticeable in the MiGs.
-Possibly more stuff that I've forgotten I added.
-No new cockpits yet, and no they don't open in cockpit-view, only in external view.

HSFX 4.1 "mini fix", description is:
    • No457_Squog Wrote:S! Guys,

I've created a little batch file which not only fixes the "Realistic Bomb/Torp. Fusing" class file misplacement issue, but creates the new aircraft's skins folders.

The usage of the batch file is very simple: place it in your root IL-2 '46 directory, and double-click it. It will then prompt you through the changes it will make automagically.

Any chance for standalone install ?

yes guys, I appreciate the mastodontic effort, but all these packs you do can be a royal pain in the ar$e...
Why not having standalone versions as well? I mean, it's almost 800 MB and some of that stuff I couldn't care less about having..
Mine is not meant to be a rant, is just a request to make things less complicated.

Thank you!

A.

Personally, I liked it better the old way you had it. There were more options to fire the guns seperately. Plus, there is a 'Fire all guns' command in IL-2 anyway, so I don't know why this change was made, unless it was for historical reasons.

There is not much ammo in the MiG-15. One way I made it 'last longer' was to fire just the two 23mm cannons with my main trigger. When they ran out, I could fire the 37mm with another button. (One burst of 23mm's is plenty to down a Sabre anyway.) Against bombers, I would like to fire only the 37mm and save the 23mm for the fighters.

Maybe you might reconsider changing the guns back to the way they were.
