Need help to unlock FMB
#1

Hi!

After editing the Conf.ini and BlConf. files as described at "Basic Map - Tools Pack" I've got only an empty FMB. No Maps, no planes, no vehicles, nothing! And the FMB section stood completely locked. Is this correct? If so, what should I do from this point? Any help will be fully appreciated.

Thanks!

Hmm... something doesn't seem right
What version of the game are you running ?

Maybe check what you have against my info I use in the config and the Bdlconfig
The shorcuts and the config.ini will not prevent Map Editor from working if you don't have the shortcuts,you would then just not have the shortcuts to use is all.
If you are having trouble it is most likely something in the Bdlconfig that is not quite right.

The config.ini needs under the [Hotkey Builder] header, a few shortcuts added to use in map editor.
Just add to the bottom of what is in that section

[HotKey builder]
Ctrl C=copy
Ctrl X=cut
Ctrl V=paste
Ctrl D=Damage
Right=bridgeRight
Left=bridgeLeft
Up=bridgeOffset+
Down=bridgeOffset-

Here is my Bdl.config

[builder_plugins]
(builder.PlMapLoad)
(builder.PlMapActors,sectFile=com/maddox/il2/objects/static.ini)
(builder.PlMapAirdrome)
(builder.PlMapLabel)
(builder.PlMapText)
[builder config]
bShowGrid true
bShowName true
bViewRunaway true
bShowTime true
bShowArmy [3,true,true,true]
iLightLand 255
iconSize 16
bViewBridge true
bAnimateCamera true
bActorOnLand true
bSaveViewHLand false
bShowLandscape true
iLightDestruction 128
iWaterLevel 191

Also in the root folder of IL-2 you will need to create a folder named Maps
Inside this created Maps folder you will then need a folder with the exact same name as the map you are going to work on.
When in the Map Editor FMB and finished working on your selected map you must only use the "save" function,(never use "save as") always just "save"
When you have clicked "save" it will save the updated map files into your created map named folder that is inside the Maps folder you created.

You could try copying and pasting my Bdlconfig info,I know if there is a "added space" or anything in that file extra that it will not work.

Hopefully this will help,let us know how you made out

Easy,

My game is V 4.09b1m.
Both Config.ini and Bdl.config were typed exactly as yours.
I`ve created the Maps folder with another folder named ''Crimea'' inside it but...
Situation did not change! The FMB section is completely empty after launching the game and not even the ''Exit'' function is active. The hole thing remains a mistery! Now I`m trying to find out some another mistake I probably did. :roll:

Thank you for reply!

1st thing is,
can you revert back and just use the stock(vanilla) Mission Builder FMB ?
Have you a BackUp Config.ini and BackUp Bldconfig to use/try ?
if you do then use the Back Up Config and BackUp BldConfig,
to try Vanilla Mission Builder to make sure you at least have the FMB functioning properly first.

A few checks>
Inside MODS/MapMods/Maps do you have an all.ini ?
This would be needed for your Map list in FMB,it makes the list of names in the FMB

Here is a default all.ini>
(The link is inoperative)

I keep a Back Up config and a Back Up BldConfig,in a folder just outside my root IL-2 folder.
I can swap these back and forth with my Map Editor Config and BldConfig to go back and forth from Map Editor to Mission Builder FMB.

Start from scratch again and get the vanilla Mission Building FMB up and running,
then try again as it seems there is an issue with just FMB

Try the default all.ini and place it in MODS/MapMods/Maps to see if it will produce a list of map names in the FMB for you.

If all of the above doesn't help you may need to re-install your game.

I'm not sure but I thought there was a download link available somewhere with direction to make a secondary install into a default Map Editor game.
It is a trimmed down version of the game to only use for Map Editor,I have gone this route and it works good and prevents the trouble of corrupting your Map Editor by installing Mods or whatever.

I believe it was KevinP who made this MapEditor install and it may be available through his map tutorial or his Map Building thread.
