Missing files??? or am i retarded???

Hey,
I have no .ini files? No static.ini, air.ini .etc no nothing... Im pretty new to IL-2 and just found this site a few months ago. I installed Wrapper and Mod activator 5.2 so I could install the All Fly Mod and I love it. I've downloaded a ton of other mods but they almost all require modifying an .ini file which I don't have? I've got the MOD folder but no .ini's. I found a few threads where people mentioned they were missing one particular .ini such as air.ini, but no one like me... I don't have any of them, which leads me to believe I'm missing something stupid? Is there another "mod installer" type thing that I'm overlooking or am I screwed? I'm running XP if it makes any difference?
Thanks,

I've got the STD folder. In it I find 16 files all with names such as "D8BC52E8D9274342". Their sizes range from 4 - 8 KB. When I open those files in note pad I just get a bunch of jibberish, so i know they aren't it. Also the in STD folder is 3 other folders named "3do" "gui" and "i18n". Those folders contain a few files each, none of which are the .ini files im looking for. I've used the windows search feature to search the entire directory. The files are either named something different or I don't have them?? However, the game (and the allfly mod) runs great... Is that even possible?

Is there any possibility I could just add the ini files artificially? Oh, I forgot to mention -- I do have the config.ini file of course but thats it.... I really want to install some of these mods but i cant...
Thanks,

Any suggestions?

If I install UP, UI, HSFX will it create these files??? What I am I missing?

What exactly are UP, UI, HSFX for? modders? installers??

they are for everyone.

HSFX, UI & UP are free downloads for anyone who plays IL2. I suggest downloading and installing one of these as a "base" and then customizing your game from there.

I personally use the UI as a base pack, and I have installed almost every mod offered at SAS. The bad part is it is very complicated to learn and use, the good side is you have full control over how your game and setup are.

EDIT: The file you are seeking are in each mod pack, but they are not compatible ... so you have to choose one and go from there.

I have another problem like that. I had installed everything following Mr. Jolly's instructions (i got installed sound mod v9.3 and AC installer 3.8), but there's no MODS folder in a root of IL-2 (of course it's subfolders are missing too). Do you know any solution for that?

P.S.:I've tried to reinstall the game few times, and it doesn't worked.

Ok, this is what I recommend ... Erase everything and uninstall everything.

Install a fresh copy of IL-2 1946. Incrementally patch up to 4.09. Relevant patches are 4.08, 4.09b, 4.09. These patches can be downloaded from 4.08 or 4.09

Once you have your game installed and patched up to 4.09m, then you need to choose ONE of these three:

#1) Install Unified Installer 1.1, then install Unified installer 1.2, then add any other mods on top of that. You can get the Unified Installer (The link is inoperative)

#2) Install Ultra Pack 2.0. Then install any mods you want on top of that. You can get the UP 2.0 mirror or UP 2.0 Torrent from the SAS site.

#3) Install HSXF mod and then install any additional mods on top of that pack. You can get HSFX mod HERE Then install any additional mods on top of that pack.

Please note, not all packs are the same, nor are they compatible.

You need to Choose a base pack to install over your fresh, default, vanilla IL-2 1946 installation. You must choose only ONE of the three above. I also highly recommend that once you get your default, vanilla 4.09 installed, make a copy of the entire game folder and use the copied folder to experiment on.

Any more questions let me know.

Eh, i had tried to install HSFX (v 4.1), after reinstall of course, but game looks as a pure version of IL-2 (no new flyables, cloudmods etc.). Could you upload this folder somewhere (w/o mods, just clean Mods folder and it's basic subfolders). Thx in advance.

If you are installing HSFX ... then there should be no mod folder at all. The whole point of HSFX is that every mod is repacked into .sfs file format. This means that there is no mod folder at all. Because the mods are compressed into .sfs files then they load much faster. That is what sets HSFX apart from the other mod packs. UP and UI both have large downloads that go into the mods folder. They also both take several minutes to load ... even on high end computers. HSFX loads the same amount of mods in about the same time as the default game unmodded.

So as far as giving you a mods folder for HSFX ... I cant because it does not exist with that setup. Everything is packed into the HSFX files. If it did not load right after install then either

A - you screwed up the install

B - you have corrupt download and it did not install correctly

I am going to bet you have problem B. try re-downloading the HSFX mod and reinstalling it. Use the tool they offer to verify you don't have a corrupt download.

Edit: Did you just download and install HSFX 4.1 only???

Because it might not work if you did this. You have to install HSFX 4.0, then upgrade to HSFX 4.1.
