Sure thing man I've got a proper texture's Big Grin
Damn, is there any way we can build clouds higher than every cloud on same altitude?
So we could have stuff like this

Holygrail, is it possible to ask them java guys about this? If this is possible to add a such option in FMB to spawn the clouds at certain offset?
We already have a option in FMB where we can tell height of all clouds on the map, max is 1500 I think.
The stuff I know is that the clouds are like few unmoving parented sprites ( particles ).
I have never seen clouds particle effects, because I think they are hardcoded into the game, but it would be awesome if we could spawn a solo cloud in a desired offset, we could've build even a supercell in a certain place.
Yeah this is madmans talk, but even if, this would be awesome.

Yeah let's get back on topic.
I have just finnished the V1b, V1 clouds shapes, + softened edges and reduced file size.
Hold on, updating first link and video.

Also what's the difference between typeclouds 0 and 1?

Typecouds 0 is less detailed but reflects in the water, and i think typeclouds 1 is more detailed but desn't reflect in water Wink

Looking forward to V1b Wink Version 1 is my favourite so far Wink

Never saw and never knew that on this planet Earth can exist such a clouds thing !!

Yes , clouds are hardcoded , there is not much available to work with unless some
of the available Java guys will find the right entries in class files which is overwhelming
task because there are tons of class files to go through to find this bugger Big Grin .
After what was done to this simulator over the past few years , I will no longer say that
real 3D clouds are not possible , it's just there is a lack of time and many other new projects
needs to be finished first that have also huge visual immersion impact on play but clouds
are thus far not one of them .

TypeClouds=0 basic clouds , minimum shadows , no ground reflection with maximum FPS
TypeClouds=1 is all about more rendering shadows , water and ground reflection and
more rich looking clouds but there are some kind of weird bugs with water reflection .
There was time when TypeClouds=1 option was first introduced in one of the patches ,
with older machines this option was very much not playable because it did killed a lot of folks FPS Big Grin
These days it doesn't matter as it is no longer any rendering stress issue for modern graphics card .

Chappi , can't tell you if there will be a slight chance in near future to look in to clouds code ,
so much other stuff waiting to be finished first .
Someone else might be able perhaps to take a look but our effects team is unable right now .
Once some of new projects are done and released , then this sure can be looked in to Tongue

I've seen Flushy's clouds only.
And I can't wait for this moment, when we will be able to make a progress with spawning those clouds.
We already can choose the weather in QMB, so we soon should be able to choose the overall cloud height.




Is it possible to make a new object for FMB, invisible, but spawning sprites?
This combined with offset can give us shroomin'g clouds and maybe even tornadoes Smile

I'm working on the heavy V3 right now guys Smile


Oh, and Holygrail, if you are interested in clouds and other Earth related things, those are called mammatus clouds.
There are even more hardcore clouds such as those

I'm a bit undecided with this mod..

Does this one affect my FPS alot?
Currently i'm using flushy's clouds together with OneLifeCrisis' FPS booster..

Does OLC's FPS booster work with this mod too?

And final question; how does this mod compare to Flushy's clouds (or Bender's Environment) ?



Btw; nice pics of those "mammatus"-type clouds, they look really scary 8)

Well, I don't think this is going to lower your fps, since this is only a texture, and does not change the ammount of particles in clouds.

As for comparision I don't know because it's a thing you need to do yourself, for me their textures are a little bit too hard.
I don't know if the booster works with this, but I think it does - this mod changes only clouds4x4.tga texture, nothing else.

To modify the size and form of the clouds you can edit the file DATA.cld in notepad.
You can see a example from Benders Clouds V3 mod, I don't know where to find it, I tried with search tool without success.
I will send to you by PM.

Only works with Texcompress enabled. ST3C mode.

That's the reason several of us don't use it. I lose quality in the whole textures with textures compression on.
