Adding new maps post-HSFX
#1

I recently got HSFX up and running but was missing Kapteeni's awesome KT_Viipuri map which was initially in my MODS folder. I downloaded the map again and added it but it added a new MODS folder and the result is that I am missing a substantial number of the new maps that were included with HSFX. How do/can I fix this so that I have both the Viipuri map and all of the others as well?

i don't know how everybody else is doing it...but in UP 2.00 i just went to the "Files" folder in the main IL2 directory... found the "maps" folder there...opened it and dropped my new map into it, then found the "all.ini" file that is also in that "maps" folder, then added my new map to the bottom of that ini file and saved it.

viola! started up the game, opened up my FMB...and there were my new maps! and they work perfectly like that.

i understand there are other ways, but "that" worked for me and was simple as pie for me to do.

That's the reccommended way for HSFX. The old Files/MODS/mapmods works as well, although you'll have to create the folders.

Actually there are two ways of adding maps to the new HSFX install: one is by adding modded maps to Rootfolder\files\maps but as I want to leave everything untouched from HSFX (just to be sure I don't mess things up 'cause I am not yet familiar with the HSFX structure) I do it the way as I was used to do it:

-In the rootfolder create a Mods folder and in that one a Mapmods folder so it looks like: Rootfolder\MODS\MAPMODS .
-In here put the maps you want and don't forget to add the _Tex folder as your added maps might have textures that are not included in HSFX.
-The next step is the all.ini: go to Rootfolder\Files\Maps\all.ini and make a copy of the HSFX all.ini and drop it in your MAPMODS folder and add the extra lines of the new maps.

Now your new maps should show up!

I added some other mods in the MODS folder and they work, they overwrite the HSFX ones.
As far as I know it hasn't still been sorted out for the soundmod. That's the only thing from HSFX I'm not satisfied about.

Yep, I prefer to put it all in my Mods folder, then it can easily be disabled for online play if neccessary Smile

For adding a new map to HSFX

add the MODS folder with the MODMAPS/MAPS in it

There u place the new maps
and then add the all.ini line to the all.ini which is in IL2/Files/Maps

and voila...
