Hi everybody,

I'm new and I discovered your awesome mods. But I have a serious problem with the installation. I installed everything ( Sound mod, wrapper, AC installer, ect... ) but when i launch my game, it shuts at the loading screen ( at 5% ). My game can't start with the modded russians file, but i can run it with the original "file.sfs" and the ".exe", but without mods of course.

So if someone can find my problem, i would be great.

I will quote a part of the 5% crash:

~You just upgraded Il2. During this you missed an SFS file Somewhere. Go back and repeat.

~You just installed a mod enabler. Then , also you might have missed an SFS file (could happen with some enablers) or, your copy of IL2 is a direct to drive copy bought over the internet.That means One of your SFS files and some of your dlls are spiked by UBI. There is an old fix for this at AAA. We are working on an updated one.

~Somehow your soundsetting is something other than 44.1KHz, and this is somehow screwing everything else. I personally have never been able to reproduce this crash. But know about it anyway, Access your sound settings through the IL2Setup.exe , or IL2SET.exe in your game folder. This seems to apply only to UI installations anyway. One of those "funny little spies"

~You did nothing and now there is a 5% crash. One of your SFS files somehow got lost or corrupted. Count them and replace them if needed. Copy all SFS files over from a backup of your game

I installed the "ENG_Sound_mod_Version_093.exe" first, then the "WRAPPER.exe" and finally the "AC_INSTALLER_v3.8.exe".

Then I tried to launch the game, and it crash at 5%.

The best way to install the mods is to install one of the large mod packs, such as either UltraPack 2.0 or HSFX. These packs include virtually all new flyable planes, many new maps and a number of other essential mods.

By installing UP2.0 or HSFX you will be saving yourself tons of trouble and aggravation trying to get mods working. Especially if you are new to this modding stuff.

I can't speak for HSFX, but for UltraPack2.0 the steps to take in this sequence are the following:

-start with a clean install from your CD/DVD: this will be version 4.07
-install the patch that upgrades to 4.08
-install the patch that upgrades to 4.09m
-install the Ultrapack 2.0 install files

Follow the above sequence.

Downloading the above patches and files may take a while since the size is quite large for them all. Installing them all (in the correct sequence!) does not take very long either. But it is worth downloading and makes installing the newest version of the game with all new planes and things ever so simple. Afterwards you can still install newly appearing mods and planes to UP2.0 with no need of using a mods activator or wrapper or anything. That will all be taken care of with installation of UP2.0.

And you will be amazed at how changed the game looks compared to the 4.07 version.

That's right. Once you have installed either UP2.0 or HSFX there is no need for any mods activator, wrapper or anything else to be installed afterwards. With either of these packs you can add new mods and planes and maps to your hearts content.

Note though that by installing either of these packs you will have virtually all planes and essential mods that have appeared up to now. Not all of them, but a very large majority. New planes, maps and mods appear regularly of course, but you will be able to add these with no hassle when and as they appear on the forum.

Installing one of the packs sounds daunting, but it's not really. Just make sure you have all of the patches and install files ready to hand, in a location where you can easily find them, and then install in sequence. It takes about 20-30 minutes to get everything installed i believe, not more than that.

A tip though: save a second clean copy of a 4.07 install as a backup. Should you need to install again, then you needn't go through the CD/DVD install process again. You can make as many copies of a 4.07 install (or other versions for that matter) as you want or have space for.

And the new planes you're talking about ? There are the AI controled planes of the game in it ? With cockpits, MG posts, bombs, rockets... Or/And very new ones ?

UP 2.0 has 98% of all new planes released to date. Once you have installed UP 2.0, you can then research on how to add the few remaining new planes that have been released since UP 2.0 came out (go to the SAS site and it has the remaining new planes with the required "buttons" file): http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php

But I've found my problem, i can't run the game with another File.SFS thant the V4.07 one, I don't know why, I can't patch the game, very strange, anyone has an idea ?

I repeat, I can't patch the game from 4.07 to 4.08 or 4.09 because it replaces the "File.SFS", and I don't know why, but i can't run the game with a more recent "File.SFS", that's why I can't install any mod or patch. Someone has a solution please ?
