IL-2 1964 keeps freezing on Start Up
#1

I just bought the game, installed the patch and I run the game.

It loads to 20% then stays there. I left it for 4 hours, came back still same. The whole PC is frozen, can't Alt+Tab or get into task manager or anything.

I have DELL XPS 600, got it 4 yrs ago, has dual GeForce 7800 GTX in SLI config.

I tried to lower the graphical settings, but same result. I have been trying to load it using the OpenGL driver. I will try DirectX now.

Please help.

Thanks

Hello Deadsoldier,

IL-2- 1964? I didn't know there was an early Vietnam version of the game after all! Just kidding!
But seriously, which patch did you install? What were you trying to do? If this is about mod-installs, the current standard seems to be to install IL-2-1946 (if it's from the DVD, it gives you version 4.07 of the game), then apply patches 4.08 and 4.09 (final, not beta!). After that, you have your choice of mod-packages, such as HSFX 4.0/4.1 or UltraPack (UP 2.0).

Hmmm, well 20% crash is usually java related error, like maybe corrupted files.
As bohr says, tell us more about what you have.

Game Load failure causes

0% - missing or incorrect FM reference or Air.ini error.

15%-20% - class file incorrect/incorrect reference, or missing. No logfile.lst will generate.

60% - FM, bad or missing.

Plane explodes on spawn: - Incorrect or missing engine file.

No cockpit view, external only: - incorrect cockpit reference in class file.

Can't view aircraft in QMB: Incorrect named aircraft folder or incorrect entry or missing hier.him.

Game loads 100% then loading error "Null":
1)Engine sub-series reference in FMD incorrect.
2)Bad parameter or text error in engine file.
