UP is a good mod pack.. but I prefer HSFX 4.1.. I know UP has "more" and that it "comes with HSFX" .... but ... I prefer HSFX 4.1.. and I figure since all the mod packas are using HSFX as their base anyway... and AAA has merged with HSFX I'll stick as close to the source as I can. Plus there are some issues with UP that have been explained to me by UP.. but frankly not to my satisfaction.

I feel the same BearCat.
HSFX-V4.1 is great. No bugs .

Should have the stand alone Zuti MDS this week. So they say.

Ultrapack 2.0 uses HSFX 4.1 as a basis so content is pretty similar between the packs, though 2.0 has a few extra planes. 2.0 also has the latest version of Zuti's Moving Dogfight Server, where 4.1 has an older version. Since 2.0 has a switcher to allow you to use your 2.0 install as a 4.1 install, I would go for 2.0 and use the switcher if you want to play in a server running 4.1.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: This was posted before I saw the other two replies, so don't feel I'm just repeating what they said Smile

Personally, I like UP 2.0 since it has the best from both AAA and SAS including the semi-new HSFX 4.1...

really Deac? how long have you been flying it?.....................................

i'm on HSFX 4.1 (and UI 1.2 as second install)

.... never tried any UP cos repacked repack of AAA mod pack just doesn't make any sense to me and i have no need for "online" mods . I'm perfectly capable to install additional mods by myself .

I do wish AAA would start publishing AC Installers again (buttons file) cos i've learned to trust in its integrity ( stock FM,WM ,DM) .

At present state i don't trust much in any other buttons file coming from other sites or from any mod pack (HSFX /UP).

I totally agree with fly_zo on this one; I've had zero problem with AC installers from AAA - they even proved compatable with the final SAS buttons pre 4.09.

The best thing about it is that I'm actually flying the game and building missions as opposed to forever farting about trying to get things to work or doing endless reinstalls like many seem to be doing here. Each to their own I guess.

Sometimes you just need to say "enough" and actually get on and fly this brilliant game.

I too am an happy offliner. Big Grin

one word - loading time. (okay...two words)

I would recommend UP + sas buttons as an offliner.

It has a full functioning MODS folder so you can customize it and add any mod you like just like before but loads in an instant because of the use of sfs files for the modpack itself.

I think you should make two installs and decide for yourself. This isn't exactly an unbiased website you are asking this question on and can lead to a lot of misinformation from guys who haven't flown both, or from guys that have a biased opinion.

I cannot stress enough how much I agree with you on this, Z.
I've tried both HSFX 4.1 and UP 2.0 after having been happy with UI 1.1 and 1.2 for several months before.
HSFX 4.1 is a neat mod and I like the reduced startup time (compared to UI) very much, but some FM's can drive you crazy...
UP 2.0 is highly appreciated for it's huge number of aircrafts included, but looking at the FM's I can't resist calling this an "intentional" modification for a specific fraction of flyers who need some stimulants for their favourite planes.
In the german subforum we've been discussing several FM's already a long time before HSFX 4.1 and UP 2.0 ever existed, there were several things to be done to improve some crippled FM's, but now with UP 2.0 it's even getting worse.
I took a look over at the UP board and they're already having a massive debate about those FM's, but it's pointless for me to join it since the mainstream of this discussion takes the direction "we at UP have the only true knowledge, what we're doing is right, criticism is blasphemy!".
FW-190's FM in UP 2.0 is absolutely out of discussion. It would have had to be improved, but it has been mutilated instead.
Bf 109 isn't much better either. While versions up to the "Friedrich" are acceptable, the "Gustav"'s DM is out of discussion and the "Kurf

You could always use the SAS "buttons" (they have two versions now, one Online and the second Offline), and they use the HSFX FM's. That way you can have your cake and eat it too, i.e. use UP 2.0 for all the planes and HSFX FM's for those planes. Big Grin

Your's right and I did so when I've had the Wellington installed on UP 2.0. However the very first SAS buttons file with Wellington support looked like it was based on UP 2.0 buttons to me. However, I've seen some significant changes when using the latest SAS buttons in my HSFX 4.1 installation last friday, I'll have to check whether this can sort out all the FM problems I have with UP.

On the other hand, I've seen some discussions already where people argued the pro's and con's of having dedicated FM's together with the mods itself.
From my opinion, at least for offline flying, this would offer the great chance to have mods running to everybody's personal favour, without having to discuss about all FM's and DM's at the same time.

Best regards - Mike

UP2 screwed with the stock dm's and fm's. That's a line that should have never been crossed.

If I'm going to settle on any mod it's hsfx.

more fights and accusations without evidence?
this is very sad for everyone.
as to which is better, if the UP 2.0 is a refinement of HSFX 4.1, obviously, UP is better.
But I'm not here to defend anyone.
Just answer me one question.
Which the best server in HL?
Which the package MODS he is using?
