I have seen many posts discussing this same problem before and no real solutions so I'm kinda stuck here. I JUST made a clean install of IL2 1946 on my computer. BTW: I have a HP dv9000 with an Nvidea graphics card and Vista 32. I have had IL2 1946 on here before recently installed successfully and it was patched all the way up to the most recent 1.2 U.I I didn't have this problem before, so what did I do wrong this time? Not sure if this matters, but I got no error messages on install, my anti-virus and firewall got temporarily turned off as did my user accounts. The previous version of IL2 has been completely removed too! Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks!

My IL-2 routinely crashes the first time I load it on Win7, probably because I am forcing full screen on a widescreen laptop, but I can just start it up again and it works. I'm sure you've heard about running as Admin, or running in compatibility mode, but you may also try eliminating all of the mini-mods, such as smoke, fire, etc. and try running the game bare bones, then adding one or two at a time until the freeze happens.
I had the same issue and it turned out to be a couple of mini-mods that may have had conflicts with others.
Well, I do appreciate the advice....When this whole thing started and it first crashed at 95%, the game had been completely unmodded. I figured I would just see what would happen if I patched it to 4.08 with the official patch, and then 4.08m I believe with the AAA mod. After that, I tried to install UI 1.2....(I mean, I know modding over a corrupt game probably wouldn't make it work, but I just wanted to see...) Obviously didn't make the game work! I can reinstall the entire game and start from scratch, if someone can tell me why it may be freezing at 95%...I know why it freezes at 5%, 20%, 60%, 70% etc. , but nobody mentions what the game is looking for at 95%...Someone please help me and the other folks on here that have appeared to have the same problem...Thanks guys! I miss my install that actually worked!

When I said mine crashed frequently, it IS at the 95% mark, but if I relaunch it again, it works.
I might also check the config.ini.

I would make a copy before changing it though.
I run on an ATI Radeon and apparently can't use Open GL as the preferred renderer.
If Ubisoft didn't mind, i'd RAR my IL-2 folder and let you download it, its a couple of gigs, but it's also a perfect backup with many mods loaded.
