Carrier Take Off and Catapult Mod

I started creating a mission in HSFX 4.1 for the first raid on Pladjoe in Operation Meridian I using the Palembang Map.

I chose HMS Illustrious, HMS Indomitable, HMS Formidable x2 (to represent HMS Victorious & HMS Indefatigable). I put two Corsair MkII flights on Illustrious and one flight of F6F-3 Late (Hellcat I) on Indomitable and nothing on the two Formidable CV's. Each Carrier was set to 56K PH for two way points and each flight had a takeoff way point and a normal fly way point. I saved the mission. I then selected to play the mission from the Full Mission Builder to test what I had made. The mission launched. Each flight lined up four abreast as they should have. All the engines started, but then all aircraft unfolded their wings and a giant explosion occurred. What planes survived on each carrier continued to warm up their engines. Next instead of snapping to the catapult the remaining aircraft all took off normally not even snapping if front of the line of planes.

My config.ini file in HSFX 4.1 looks like this at the bottom just as I have it in UI 1.2:

Now I copied and pasted this mission to my UI 1.2 install. I edited the mission using four HMS Illustrious Carriers because the other BPF carriers are not available in UI 1.2 ship pack version. All of the aircraft started their engines and warmed up with each flight lined up four abreast just like they did in HSFX 4.1. Then one by one each aircraft snapped to the catapult and then unfolded their wings and took off.

In UI 1.2 this mod works flawlessly.


I tried other missions in HSFX 4.1 that had carriers with catapults and the problem occurs in each and every mission regardless of whether using a British CV or US CV that have catapults. This problem only exists in HSFX 4.1.

Anyone know why the aircraft are unfolding their wings when they start their engines and do not use the catapults?

In the JSGME application I activated the mod 02_Zuti_DSMod_v0.8. Does this include the Carrier Takeoff (including catapult) mod and the Cert AI mods and the moving dogfight server mod?

Do I have to activate the 01_Carrier Takeoff Mod 5.3.3 as well?

Is this entry in the config.ini correct?

this happened to me too, you have a conflicting mod with your carrier mod.

Had even you think about Cam ship as "early escort carrier" with single hurricane that only can fly one time.

Why would I even consider this?

The four carriers I mentioned were the ones involved in this actual operation which occured in 1945.

The aircraft from the British Pacific Fleet that took part in these raids included:

Fairey Firefly
Corsair MKII (F4U-1A with clipped wings)
Hellcat I (F6F-3)
Avenger MkIII (TBM)

Well it has to be one of the mods activated in the JSGME mod enabler because the few mods that I currently have in the HSFX4.1\MODS folder are the same as I had in UI 1.2 (plus a ton of others) and it works perfectly there.

I am not questioning the existence of the "Cam" ship. And yes I have seen footage of these being used in the Atlantic as part of convoy defense against FW 200 Condors. So do not assume I did not know what you were referring.

I am questioning its relevance to this particular mission since I already listed the only British Aircraft Carriers that were historically part of this Operation Meridian I.

First my mission represents the Operation Meridian which took place January 24, 1945 not early war.
Second the Operation took place off of the southern coast of the Island of Sumatra in the Indian Ocean not the Atlantic.
Third although Seafires were used in the operation, they only performed Combat Air Patrol around the fleet because they did not have the range to fly to Palembang from the British Pacific Fleet's launch point some 150 nautical miles away.
Fourth there were no Hurricanes or Sea Hurricanes involved in Operation Meridian I.

So tell me, why would I put a "CAM" ship with a single hurricane in this mission when it never operated in the Indian Ocean.

Found the problem. This is the mod causing all of the problems.

02_Zuti_DSMod_v0.8

I deactivated this mod in the Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME.exe) and replaced it with 01_Zuti_DSMod_v1.01_UP and now no more unfolding of wings at the start of the mission followed by massive explosions. All engines start, first AI plane snaps to the catapult of HMS Illustrious, unfolds its wings and launches successfully.

Now a new question. HMS Indomitable has a catapult, but it does not work.
Did someone forget to make the catapult functional for this ship? It is showing on the flight deck of this skin.
Also by the time HMS Formidable reached the British Pacific Fleet to replace HMS Illustrious did it have a catapult installed? Yes I know the skin shows no catapult.

I now understand as you talk about work on campaign "Operation Meridian" only. I am sorry. I just had some discuss at SAS forum about CAM ship and it was still fresh in my head and saw MOD you work on it and wonder if it can be mod it on "cargo ship" I am sorry for make your post mess up. Please forgive me as have a good day.
