I used to be able to turn the map on and see my plane (white plane icon) automatically centered in the map. Now, however, this automatic centering is gone. On opening the map, I have to zoom out and mouse around to try to locate the white plane icon in the map.

Any idea what I can do to fix this so the map automatically centers on the player's plane?

And this is minor, but I'll ask anyway: Is there a setting somewhere in some config file that allows one to set where the "Stand By" (loading) dialog box appears? (I tried searching the conf.ini to no avail) i.e., instead of by default appearing in the center of the screen where it blocks some nice screen images, I could have it appear at the bottom or top?

Question 2: you can move it where you want, while the mission is loading, simply click on the frame of the dialog box with BOTH left AND right click and drag it where you want, it is not that easy to do but it works ...

Do you have mods installed?
Do you have map icons turned off?

From what you describe, it sounds like map icons are turned off. With the map icons off, you will not automatically be centered on your plane when viewing the minimap. It's just part of the game.

Also, if you are using one of the Zuti MDF (Moving Dog Fight) mods your map will start out zoomed out all the way, but it doen't sound like you are using zuti.

Yes, I can move the stand by dialog, but as you know, the cursor is moderately unresponsive when it's loading. Not critical, but thought I'd ask.


On the other note about map not centering: I do have mods installed, but also tried using jsgme to deactivate the mods...still the same. I thought I checked on the map icons check box, but I'll have to look again. I thought turning off map icons means that one wouldn't see icons of either your plane or the enemies, but I do see my plane icon, and it's just not centering. I'll check again though...thanks for your responses.

Same problem 4me my aircraft is not centered on minimap with u.p. 2.0 and even if i've checked/tryed all box labels in MDF section in FMB.. any idea?

Hmmm...turning map icons on or off didn't seem to solve it...
