How To Have Aircraft Start Mission Off-Runway?

The title says it all. I want to build a coop mission in which the player aircraft start the mission off-runway and need to taxi into position before takeoff. How do I do this?

In FMB select objects then stationary ships then test runways. Place these runways in a flat location. Do not place real close to an existing airfield. Once you have made your own airfield you can place single flyable aircraft in a hangar or where ever you want them to taxi from to the runway for takeoff.

If you have UP2.0 you can activate MDS v1.1 and have AI aircraft as well
not really a coop in that sense but the possibilities are great if you ask me.
player ac always start at parking areas then, plus... everybody can refly Smile

Imagine your airfield as a circle. You need to drag the takeoff icon outside this circle until it doesnt swaps back to the runway icon.
(There's a mod which reduces this airfield radius.)

McHilt, do you mean that if the mission is set up as a Dogfight using MDS, that aircraft can be placed to start off runway? This could be what I'm looking for. I'm using HSFX4.1 and I have it's version of Zuti's MDS enabled.

Sorry Murph, but only human controlled acft can spawn off the runway and TAXI to the runway to take off. AI acft will not taxi anywhere except back to parking after landing. They will not taxi TO the runway no matter what version of MDS you are using.

Another way is to edit .mis file in notepad

Place an object at desired start location to find co-ords, which you copy paste to TAKEOFF and then delete the objects line and save.

Best to set zero fuel if a coop so that the player can fill the tanks. Any unmanned aircraft will then not move - rather than ploughing through the nearest hangar.

And for carriers you need to set the carrier as target for first waypoint.

Thanks Sneaky! So, all I do is set the position of the plane just off the taxiway, without setting the waypoint as TAKEOFF, open the .mis file in notepad and change the type of waypoint from say, "NORMFLY" to "TAKEOFF" and save?

Not having any luck with this so far- I'll keep trying as time permits. If I do come up with a solution, and I think there is one out there, I'll post it here in case anyone else needs to know.

Set 1st waypoint as Takeoff and edit co-ords - McB should know how Wink

Did try this but still need to be set some distance from airfield or planes will snap to runway on spawn.
