Frames per second (FPS) down 10-15 in US planes?
#1

The P47 is the worst, then P51, P38. The German planes are fine, it's just the US planes that drop my fps?????

Experts please chime in.

Are you using the Hi-Res or Lo-Res version of the P-47 pit?

High res. I thought my SLI rig could handle this game no problem.

Disable the Hires directory and enable the Lores directory and see how it goes. There are some big files for the main panels. (4mb seems low these days???) I am suprised that you have lag with SLI though! What maps you flying?

It occurs on any kind of the map for some reason. I tried what you have said. Strange enough, it does not make a difference.. :?

Specs..
Core i5 750 @ 4.4ghz
4gb Patriot sector 5 1333mhz at 1600mhz
500Gb Samsung Spinpoint F3 7200rpm
ASrock Extreme P55 mobo
SLI 8800GTS 512 @ 800 core 1300 Memory
750W Corsair TX750 Power Supply

4.4Ghz! nice work!

When the P-47 pit mod was brought out originaly there was no such thing as HSFX. The makers of HSFX have compiled a whole lot of mods together without confering with the mod makers. The more stuff compiled together the more chance for interference between mods as you are obviously seeing. Do a fresh install without installing HSFX and let us know how you go.

As stated in the original mod thread you will get a fps drop going from heads-down to heads-up in the cockpit due to computation of scenery. It has always been that way even with the original cockpit textures.

@RepublicofTexas

See the link below for reference on enabling the required directories.

I have HSFX 4.1/UP2.0m on my machine. The "-" does not apply to me because I don't have UI1.2 anymore. So if I d/l your P47 pit files and stick them into my jsgmemods folder, then enable, they will work?

Thanks.

Hello RepublicofTexas,

I won't have HSFX installed so there is no way I can test this. There are two discrete folders in the mod. Hires and Lores, I am guessing copy the appropriate folder where it's needed. This may screw up explicit directory references though.

Good luck.

Hi,

I have both the UI 1.2 and HSFX 4.1

There are things that I like and dislike about both, to be fair. However, with increased flight model algorithms for some planes and new, heavier cockpit modelling, and a few other mod additions per plane in HSFX, we are seeing the practical limits of modding individual planes with current PC hardware and software technology.

In a few years, the PC technology will evolve to a level which can handle all this. That's a temporary advantage. I wonder-will the increase in processing capabilities result in more careless, less efficient mod additions? Currently, mod creators have been forced to be as efficient as possible. This has helped in the area of unity at this time. The future increase in diversity of mod creation methods will cause less unity and more factions, I predict.

I want the best for all IL-2 communities, including standardization and unification in order to promote easier publication of mods among more people. The online issues of compatibility will be especially tricky to manage. Will the technical leaders co-operate in the major aspects of this? We'll see.

That's my humble two cents.

I am downloading the FusionPack which is based on HSFx and UP. I will report how it will go.

Somebody posted a while back here at AAA about IL-2 not liking dual video cards (I have Crossfire 4890's) and thay were an actual detriment to the FPS in the game.

As an experiment, I disabled my Crossfire and played the exact same senario without the Crossfire enabled and my FPS went from 30 FPS to 50 FPS. As a result, when ever I play IL-2 , I disable my Crossfire and my FPS are a lot higher.
