I describe it this way as I have done it:

Example Ranwers Wellington Bomber:

The "Wellington MK_III" folder comes into "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Mods" folder! (If you dont have one create it!)

This line comes into the "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Files/com/maddox/il2/objects/air.ini" file:
Wellington-MKIII air.Wellington_MKIII 1 NOINFO gb01 SUMMER

This line comes into the"IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Files/i18n/plane_ru.properties file:
Wellington-MKIII Wellington MKIII, 1941

This line comes into the"IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Files/i18n/weapons_ru.properties file:

#####################################################################
# Wellington-MKIII
#####################################################################
Wellington-MKIII.default Default
Wellington-MKIII.8x250 8x250lb Bombs
Wellington-MKIII.12x250 12x250lb Bombs
Wellington-MKIII.16x250 16x250lb Bombs RFL
Wellington-MKIII.4x500 4x500lb Bombs
Wellington-MKIII.6x500 6x500lb Bombs
Wellington-MKIII.8x500 8x500lb Bombs RFL
Wellington-MKIII.2x1000 2x1000lb Bombs
Wellington-MKIII.4x1000 4x1000lb Bombs RFL
Wellington-MKIII.1xtorp 1xTorpedo
Wellington-MKIII.6xParaFlareUK 6xPara Flares
Wellington-MKIII.10xParatrooper 10xParatroopers
Wellington-MKIII.none Empty

Sorry,

The SAS buttons file comes into:

"IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Files/gui/game" folder (Rename the current buttons file or make a safe copy!)

How do you add the text lines to the .ru files? When I try to open them to add the necessary lines, I get a message Windows doesn't recognize the file extension. Thanks...I'm really wanting to add the Kodama's J7W1.

Nope. I've already done that so I could edit game config. files. Windows says it doesn't recognize .ru files

Don't you get an "Open with..." option, or some way to select what program to use to open the file,
then choose Windows Notepad?

D'oh! I feel so stupid. But at least I'm now tooling around in my brand new J7W1 thanks to Kodama and you!
