I know this has been asked gazillion times, but how do I make a mission in FMB where I can start from the parking area?

Hi mate!!!
I think that you can use 'Recuded Influence Radius' mod that allow you to change the spawn point from the strip to elsewhere!

BTW Am I doing something wrong when my planes start about 100 meters away from each other?

If I remember right this mod have trouble with AI and is better that you read the whole tread!
If possible try to spawn only you where you desire and set a time delay for the rest of the flight to spawn after you reach the take off point!

A few of the maps have places where you can set up separate flights of one plane each, side-by-side at park points. What this is doing is "fooling" the game into thinking these are the actual takeoff points. LALRone's Normandy map has one of these areas. I have not built a mission yet that does this but a friend of mine has and I have flown it with him as a coop. One weird side effect is that if any "spare" planes are left as AI, they will try to take off straight from the park point and will crash into whatever is in front of them. Therefore it is important to edit the mission to include only as many slots as there are human players.
