4.08m & 4.09m killed my IL2
#1

Alright, I've brought this up at SOV/SOF website, getting as much help as i can. But it has come up empty. The previous version that I had of IL-2 had worked with the 4.08m patch and 4.09m patch. I then un-installed it because I lost interest of IL-2 Confusedhock: . So, heres the problem:

I re-installed with a different version of IL-2 than I had before. It worked to the 4.08m patch(From FileFront.com,) then tried the 4.09m patch from myotherdrive.com. That killed it. Next, i re-tried it over again for about another 3 times over thinking it was a "Bad" install, or corrupted patch download (Which I re-downloaded 3 times over again,) and still no results. So, i tried a different patch from a different website (4.09m) and that still killed it. Next, i re-installed it over again, only applied the 4.08m patch, and it didn't even start then. FileFront has always been my #1 patch downloading site, beside the games manufacturers site itself. So, i downloaded the 4.08m patch from Ubi.com, and it worked! So, I thought, "Yeah! It was just a bad 4.08m patch!" But, boy was I wrong. Re-installed it again, with my confidence up, only to had it picked up, crunched, and tossed into a river. The 4.09m patch killed it. So, i downloaded the patch via torrent, reccommended by SOV/SOF on their website. Mission4today. Killed it. Tried the normal download. Killed it. So, after countless hours of frustration, un-installing, re-installing, I'm calling on help from the true modders themselves.

I hope I can get this sorted out ASAP. As my plane of SOV/SOF is getting rather lonely on there.

I was going to say something else, but i completely forgot what it was. If i remember it, I'll re-post here.

EDIT* 4 seconds later, i remember what it was. I open the task manager, start IL-2, processes go from 46-47, then back to 46, because the games refuses to start.

Yes, I HAD it. I removed it due to frustration, and trying to get it back.
I did all of the other steps you said, and it still left me blank.

This probably a bum steer, given it's been a long while since I did the install, but I seem to remember having to install something like "English sound mod" and "Aircraft installer 3.?" to get things working. Sorry if this is the wrong direction, and I can't remember any more info.
:-? Hoppy.

There have been some issue with new .dlls in the 4.09 patch for some people.
What often fixes it, is, after installing the 4.08m patch, copy and save these two file:

mg_snd.dll
mg_snd_sse.dll

Then, after installing the 4.09m patch, replace the new files with the ones saved from 4.08m.
