Alright, every time I come back from college there's something new I have to download just to play this game online. I downloaded this new HSFX bs and now my game only loads to 95% and stops, doesn't even start. WTF is going on?

Did you install 4.09 patch, then hsfx 4.0, and then hsfx 4.1?

If you didn't do that in that order, you're doing it wrong, also, watch your language.

You are right though; it's harsh to call HSFX BS (actually a lot worse than harsh) but let's not jump on the band wagon: he clearly wrote the post in frustration.

Any posts to tell him the best way to install HSFX though is fine. I did do a post on it in the HSFX section here I think (it may be a sticky).

Step 1: Install IL2 1946
Step 1a: Run game and watch the lower left corner to see what version you are using

Note: If you installed from the CD then you will have version 4.07. If you downloaded from Steam or some other online source, you will most likely have 4.08m. If your game says 4.07 proceed to Step 2. If your game says 4.08m, proceed to step 3.

Step 2: Install 4.08m patch (if you got IL2 1946 from steam, then ignore step 2 and go to step 3)
Step 2a: Run game to ensure patch applied properly

Step 3: Install 4.09m official patch
Step 3a: Run game to ensure patch applied properly

Step 4: Install HSFX 4.0
Step 4a: Activate HSFX history mod using the supplied JSGME Mod activator
Step 4b: Run game to ensure mod is installed and working properly, you will have a new splash screen that will say Ver 4.0

Step 5: Install HSFX 4.1
Step 5a: Activate HSFX history mod using supplied JSGME Mod Activator
Step 5b: Run game to ensure mod is installed and working properly, splash screen will remain the same as HSFX 4.0, except it will now read 4.1

Step 6: Install HSFX 4.11
Step 6a: Activate HSFX history mod using supplied JSGME Mod Activator
Step 6b: Run game to ensure mod is installed and working properly, splash screen will remain the same as HSFX 4.0, except it will now read 4.11

Not sure what it is you think I said that is wrong..

In that it is allways best to start with a clean install of IL2 when your having problems that you can not account for

Espically if you have old mods from prvious or other installs

Granted it is a shot gun aproach

But it is a sure fired one that works

But I am willing to learn

If you think you can expand/explane why you think that is wrong

I can understand the Frustration and Hasty words.. But, proper information not Harsh criticism is needed here.

This site has all the necessary instructions and proper links you need to update to HSFX or the UP 2.0 mod packs.Click on the downloads section and your on your way.

Yes, but a clean install to some is Il-2 vanilla; hence the misunderstanding
