Object Building Assistance.....
#1

Hi All;

Well unfortunately there has been no response from any who can make objects as to any interest in making new be they simple (basic repaints) to complex. Even just the simple ones would be tremendous additions. So in that light, could someone direct me to some tutorials as to how to work with existing objects (simple repaints), and also possibly how to alter existing or make new which will entail some 3d modeling I suspect?

My forte` is research......Guess it's time to expand my skills so we can all have an improved New Guinea and pacific set of maps (as much will apply elsewhere).

I do have more or less the same question/problem...
Two weeks ago I found this thread by mrJolly with all 1946 objects extracted ready for a repaint:

(The link is inoperative)

Like you I want to repaint + rename some buildings to have them as a set of new buildings but as they are still unconverted they are neither viewable nor editable. And the link to the TGA converter doesn't exist anymore. Sad

But basically repainting an existing building is not that difficult:
-First convert the .tga to .bmp or .jpg extension
-Repaint it in Photoshop/Gimp or any other program
-When finished save it again as a 256 indexed colour .tga
-Put it back in the original folder

So hopefully somebody can provide us with a TGA converter.

Big Grin
EDIT: just found a link with a .tga converter:

(The link is inoperative)

Hopefully my reply was any helpful to you.

Hello,

I have a desire to possiblly do work in these areas in a couple months and I have been gradually doing research in preparation. To subscribe to this thread, I posted here.

The squadron of which I am a member is the Fallen Angels Squadron. Though we enjoy flying many different aeroplanes and maps around the world, we have a particurlar interest in the Pacific and nearby areas. We are home of the creation of the Slot Map which will be included in the official 4.10m patch to be published soon. We have other projects forthcoming. This is to give you an idea about us and things on the horizon.

As for objects, there is almost unlimited possibilities, as seems to be obvious to you, Billfish, as well as others like me. For the Pacific and other sea regions, the port and harbor objects which are visible from aircraft and for the sake of movie making would be an appreciated addition.
