TrackIR5 and antialiasing in IL2
#1

I always had some trouble with antialiasing in IL2 when I use the TrackIR5 (never happened to me with my old now broken TrackIR4). Il2 refused to accept any antialiasing setting. The only way for me to get over it was to assign the antialiasing setting I wanted directly to the TrackIR which naturally didn't fit to all the other settings I use.

Now I found a little trick to solve this problem.

1 - run Il2 in the perfect mode with your choice of antialiasing with the TIR5 TURNED OFF. Just fly around somewhat and then turn the game off.
2 - restart the TIR5 and then restart IL2

Il2 will now remain the choosen antialiasing setting (seems to remember it) and TIR5 will no longer force it back to the jagged mode.

Perhaps there are other members out there who are struggling with the same problem. Try this solution!

By the way, if you have an SLI setting like me get the EVGA SLI patch and you get full SLI power for IL2 (I run a watercooled GTX 295).

Thanks Eckhart!

I will give this a try. I know that I seem to have problems with my TrackIr and AA also.

Oh my... I thought I was the only person in the world with the very same problem. Even my squadron mates thought I was crazy, but I had to go back to my old TrackIr 4 drivers because AA didn't work in IL2, unless I applied it to the TrackIr5 exe itself.

I think there are many out there who are not aware that their videocard doesn't give them the full beauty of IL-2!
Setting TrackIR 5 up as a program with the desired AA setting for Il-2 works but it limits you to that setting. If you fly with other FS like ROF you have to modify your setting every time you start another program.

Therefore I use this little trick:

1 - start Il-2 without TIR: verify that you get the full AA setting (have a look at your preferred aircraft: no jagged lines!)
2 - hit the windows key and start TIR5
3 - exit Il-2

You should be able to get the full AA setting next time you start Il-2.

If this doesn't work (yes sometimes it fails) and after step 1 you still have some jagged lines, you have to restart windows and repeat the sequence. You will get an unclean shutdown demonstrating that there was a conflict somewhere which interfered with Il-2 using your AA setting. After the restart, just apply the little trick mentioned above and it works....

Ps: the TIR team seems to ignore the existence of this problem but when you look at my thread in their forum, it has one of the biggest number of visitors! http://forum.naturalpoint.com/forum/ubb ... 452&page=3
