TexFlags.TexAnisotropicExt=1
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombine4NV=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=1
TexFlags.DepthClampNV=1

Hi , i had this problem before and when you crash in the water the blocks are gone.....I also have the ATI cart. To solve the problem you need to
install an older video driver. Look at this topic at M4T from myself a while ago, you need the 8.9 driver.

Hope i could help ya whit this.

Looks like a driver problem, not an IL2 problem.

Here are the instructions: All credit goes to TOMFF!!!

Okey, buddy, did a one hour research to figure how the heck I got my Ati 5770 with 10.4 driver to run more or less flawless in
IL-2 1946 HSFX4.11/4.1 (If you don't know how to install this pack: viewtopic.php?t=25515&start=0)

This forum thread covers all your problems:

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/ ... 088038/p/9

I'll post links for you, but for credit reasons, that's where I got my help:
Crucial posts are the last four posts linked above, page 9.

Start to read from page 7-8!...

Okey: IIRC:
You have several options.
(First, be aware that with current drivers the loadscreen will keep being bugged. But you can fly and after a few seconds or a minute, the corruption in the red text etc. will be gone.
Alternatively, start a track before flying yourself.
In short: Corruptions-yes, but only for a short time.
I disengage all text info in my screen when starting my first mission, so I don't really care.)

To your options:

In the IL-2 forum linked above, I downloaded 2 files:

"atioglxx", to place in your IL-2 1946 root folder. It is a file from an older Ati driver to enable proper gameplay with newer drivers.

http://www.mediafire.com/?anwzyzhwvte

NOT MY LINK, credit to the guy in the IL-2 forum!!

I did not use this file IIRC. Tried once IIRC..It caused problems in my install.

Instead I read a little further to the bottom of page 9 (see above link) and made the changes

At a glance I can see you are missing one option under [Render_OpenGL] that causes this. Change the following line: TexFlags.TexEnvCombineExt=0 to 1 and the black scenery is gone. Those 3 choices there, one above and below this choice are imperative to be kept at 1.

Also you can try to set the following lines to 1 as well:

TexMipFilter=2 to 3 (enables Anisotropic Filtering]-the only thing I had to change..
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=0 to 1
TexFlags.SeparateSpecular=0 to 1

Otherwise your setups looks OK. I hope this helped.

Orville. This anomaly you have is due the DLL-files that are in IL-2. Called il2_core.dll and il2_core4.dll. Best ones for me are the ones dated 13.3.2008, but you get rid of those artifacts also by enabling Catalyst AI at Standard setting. Linky to the IL2 dll-files below, just make a backup of your existing ones and drop the new ones in IL-2 folder Smile Linky: http://www.mediafire.com/?nmtmmjxnymz

I downloaded THAT filepack, it really helped!!!!!!

http://www.mediafire.com/?nmtmmjxnymz

In it included are 5 variations of those 2 files. I chose the ones closest to the date Flanker posted. (Huge thanks to this man!!)

They worked!.

So, IIRC, I did 3 things:

1 Download the above linked "5_DLLS" filepack, took 2 files from it and inserted them in my IL-2 1946 main install.
Always backup files before replacement!!!!!!

2 Made the conf.ini changes reported (quoted) above for anisotropic filtering.
TexMipFilter=2 to 3

3 And this, also found (quoted) in the IL-2 forum IIRC:
"
A small tidbit picked from 1C forums from ATI thread Smile To get Vertex Arrays working without the annoying "blue hue" do the following: disable Dynamical Lights in conf.ini under OpenGL. Set from 1 to 0 and save. Does the trick."

That last trick cured blue shimmering when guns are utilized etc.

That should get you started.

If in doubt read the link posted first. All infos in there.
Disregard last more negative comments.

And yes, frustrating to have a brandnew rig and do a huuuge dance to figure out how to get this sim running on forkin new Ati drivers.

Thanks, General Psycho for sparing me from posting all that! :lol:

Yes, the General hit it perfectly.

After you have applied all the information about the ATI late model cliche, then you should consider some other issues with the conf.ini file. I have the link below this to my PC/IL-2 tech help topic page 3, but it would be a good idea to examin pages 1-4.

Mainly, since you have a late model ATI card ( I know by the problem that you are having ), then you should be able to get either perfect, maximum graphics card settings or very close to it. Plus, I am sure that you will correct a few things that you discover and reaffirm what General Psycho suggested.

Focus mainly on the conf.ini "Absolute Highest Image Quality" settings. Your system can probably handle it. After you get that, you can reduce a few settings if need be. In the process, you will get confidence about overcoming all issues involved.

The just released Catalyst 10.5 is claimed as fixing the driver bugs, according to ATI information which was published yesterday and today.

NVIDIA has an automated hardware detection service which matches the correct driver to an owner's hardware. I have never seen such a thing at ATI's website. Does anyone know if ATI has one?

redarrows,

After you click on the link below this, you will see the AMD webpage and the label "ATI Catalyst version 10.5 Drivers". You click on the "ATI Radeon Video Card Drivers" category. The next webpage to appear will have the title "ATI Catalyst version 10.5 downloads".

Look for the category called Full Catalyst Software Suite (Recommended).

Since you have Windows 7 Operating System, then you will choose the one with the same bit that you have. Do you have 32-bit or 64-bit Win7? The one that you have is the link that you would click.

Remember to scan the download for malware, second to test the download for corruption, and lastly open it to activate the installer which is included in it. The installer will handle the download from there and install it for you.
