IL2 won't start up
#1

I can't get IL2 to start up on my laptop! I'm running Vista, have done a fresh install of IL2 (I haven't patched to 4.08 yet), and done all the standard diagnostics, as well as checking the Event Viewer. I have plenty of Ram, etc.

What happens is that the screen resolution switches to 1024x768 pixels(default), and the IL2 splash screen shows up for approx. 1/2 second, and then nothing! I've checked Process Explorer and IL2 is not running at all. I've installed IL2 on a PC using the same installation disc, and that works fine

I'm reasonably PC literate, but can't get my head around this one!

Any advice? Cheers

Maybe you installed it to its default loaction in the program-files? If so, this is bad when using vista as it won't let you edit anything. Make a new location for it and turn UAC off, and maybe that will fix the problem.

Thank you for your response! I did install IL2 to the default C: etc... User Account Control has been disabled for many moons. I'm going to delete IL2
and install it anew on my D:. I'll keep you posted.

P.s. I've never been a member of a forum in my life, until now. Thank you and the whole IL2 community! Someday, I hope to give something back.

Cheers

First try setting the program to run in Win XP compatibility mode.
Next run the IL-2 Setup program. It sounds like your conf.ini file is corrupt.
