Any Canadian Campaign Somewhere ??
#1

Well, for a change, I'd sure like to fly as a Canadian pilot in the offline Campaign.

Is there anything like that I could eventually find out there ?? I'm using HSFX 4.0 right now.

If Australia has some Campaigns, why not Canada ??

After all, we were one of the first countries to declare war on Germany when they invaded Poland in 1939. Smile

I am likewise interested in any Canadian campaign.

A search at M4T only yielded one possibility---A chap named Skunk posted in 2007 that he was working on a 29 mission Canadian campaign called "Going Down: A tour with 438 Sqn. RCAF"---Tempests in 4 subdivisions, Normandy, Ardennes, 2 others. But a search under that name gave no campaign, just his original post.

If he's a member here (and I think he is), he may see this and chime in on what happened to his project.

Any other referrals by anyone would be appreciated as well.

Yeah, I know him too, I've been flying with him at some point, some others from the 438th, nice guys, only I'm a horrible team player. But if this Going Down campaign is still around somewhere it must be pretty old by now, it's possible I could eventually contact him, but he probably has not much of a good opinion about me now because I'm just completely incompetent at flying in teams. So, instead of flying out there with squads and likely to cause some trouble ( which I really don't like to do ) I just stick to fly offline. It'd be nice of him to make an updated version of this one from the 438th. Big Grin

I'm pretty sure Skunk would be found in the French language section if he's really a member here, but I'm pretty sure he does show up there at times.

Hi guys.

I never finished the campaign. To be quite honest with you I dont even remember posting it on M4T, as it was meant to be a squad only campaign. I did finish the first 5 or 6 missions but the rest of the planned missions I never built.

EDIT: I found the post at M4T...notice I mention that I would continue work and possibly release the campaing if there was interest in it. Turns out that that was the last post of the thread. Meaning I took it as no one was interested in it. So I lost motivation, xmas came around and I never finished it.

As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure that many Canadians here from all over the country would be interested, but if it'd be a more updated version like with the maps we now have and the missing countries that now include Canada since we've got the Ultra Pack and the HSFX mods, it would be really something great to play with. In my case, I now use the HSFX 4.0, ( or is it the HSFX 4.1 ?? ). Big Grin

I can't say about the others but I don't mind playing with old campaigns either. Big Grin

The reason I mentioned it here for the AAA crowd was the sub-campaign titles sound interesting and the Tempest can be a challenging bird to fly. I'm sure many would be interested to fly your mission concepts from 438th history, no matter what the nationality. A tribute to the 438th would be de rigour, of course!

Of course, totally up to you to do or not---your time is your time, forced to spend mostly on real life as obligated .

I am looking to start a new project at the moment. I prefer creating highly historical campaigns (see the 303 squadrron campaign I did). Does anyone have a particular group in mind, or a site with daily operations reports? I will dedicate it to my late Auntie Mae from Toronto.

Okay, We need a canadian campaign... as i'm from Toronto I really want one, because i'm always doing stuff in a concrete jungle, i wanna feel like im going back in time flying with pilots of the RCAF, like my great grandfather did, over germany in his lancaster! It would be awesome.... I'd be making a huge mega campaign right now but for a few reasons i cant...

1. I dont know any really big missions...
2. who in a huge city has the time?
3. i don't know how Tongue

There's the Dieppe Massacre where plenty Canadian Soldiers were killed by the Waffen SS for starters. Next would possibly be with the Defense of Hong-Kong when the Japanese invaded the place.

Next we have Juno Beach where Canadian Troops took part at this invasion. There's also the Battle of the Atlantic where the Canadian Navy was involved, but the Atlantic probably doen't have much potential, just hunting down German U-Boats with some occasional warships to hit or just the average Convoy Escort by using the CAMs Fighters could be an idea though, especially if you add up the possible use of our Graf Zeppelin trying to pick on Allied Ships in the Atlantic, I'd say it can eventually be done.

Also, weren't Canadian Soldiers involved in the Invasion of Italy after the Afrika Korps had to pull out of Africa ??

Right now it's the ideas that come to mind for a Historical Canadian Campaigns but to be honnest, I don't have enough documentation to build one of those fights, except the Battle of the Atlantic that is.

There was a Canadian hurrie squadron at the Battle of Britain. There would have been tons of cross-chanel ops ( hurricanes, spitfires, typhoons, mossies etc.). Canada helped to invade Sicily as well as Italy too.

Also years ago I read Wing Comander by Johny Johnson. He was comander of a Canadian wing for a couple of years. that would probably be a good basis for a campaign.

Never had heard about it before, I'll possibly have to give it a try for a possible good read.

Actually now that I'm thinking about it, I believe the name was Wing Leader.
It was quite a while ago that I read it Big Grin .
I think that at one time I found a campaign based off of Johny Johnson at M4today - it should have at least some missions while he was with the Canadian wing.
